my friend, my wonderful wonderful amazing friend Tobi, member of the welcome home team is finally executing on their plans to get out of their really REALLY scary and awful living situation but they need your help to make this a possibility! Not only should you share this post but also please make a post of your own? Here’s in their own words their plan.

This has been something we’ve been discussing for months. I want my friend to be safe in an environment where he is cherished and able to create his projects surrounded by people that support him. PLEASE help my friend.

The FCC sided with Comcast and decided to let ISPs censor the internet. The Internet needs to stop this from happening: http://cms.fightforthefuture.org/tellfcc/

Last Wednesday, FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler announced a proposal for new rules that would allow for a “ fast lane” of Internet traffic for content providers who are willing (and able) to pay a fee. [1] The proposal reverses the FCC’s previous commitment to net neutrality and open internet and allows ISP’s like Comcast or Verizon to slow down and censor services that don’t pay the toll.

We have to be totally honest, this situation is seriously grim. But there is still hope. The FCC already knows that the Internet community wants net neutrality, but they think they can put their spin on these new rules and sneak them through. If we can prove them wrong right now with a massive public outcry, we can literally save the Internet once again.

We need to stop the FCC now. Big business groups are already ramping up lobbying efforts with the FCC in swarms since Wednesday’s announcement in support of censoring the open Internet and to ensure this dangerous proposal moves forward. [2]

This is a critical moment. In the last few weeks more than 65,000 people have taken action with us. Can you help us get to 80,000 by the end of the day today?

Someone–Stephen King? Pretty sure I saw this in a Stephen King foreword–once said they’d like to say to a brain surgeon, “Boy, I’d love to do brain surgery someday.”

We treat “the ability to put words into a sentence” like it’s just the same as “the ability to form a coherent narrative that engenders a variety of emotions within the reader and puts them in a scene and shows them what they didn’t see before”.

And that’s like me drawing a stick figure and saying I’m an artist.

Writers are constantly devalued because everyone thinks they have a book in them and don’t realize the level of skill and commitment it takes to finish even a short story, much less a whole book. 

If you read the book, Stephen King specifically says that IT (the shape-shifting monster also known as Pennywise) is female and pregnant. This is why the Losers’ Club has to come back and finish what they started when they were kids. 

However, IT chooses primarily male forms or genderless forms to kill and terrorize the children with. 

So, IT specifically chooses to fluctuate between female, male, and genderless presentations, making IT genderfluid.

Is an ancient, eldritch being from another dimension with a form that humans cannot even begin to comprehend and is, thus, unlikely to give a fuck about gender

Can shapeshift into people’s worst fears and does so frequently to terrorize its victims

Feeds off of fear

Literally tears children apart and eats them

Keeps an entire town under a spell in which no adults can truly recognize the suffering of children, even when they’re being assaulted, sexually abused, abducted, and murdered

Delights in the violent, homophobic assault of a gay man before taking the man from his attackers and ripping him apart while his lover watches

Delights in racist violence and was fueled by the KKK’s presence in Derry, as well as a white supremacists’ torching of a black nightclub

It has a shocking amount of diversity for its genre:

(The player characters for BDL1 including a black man, a woman, and a latino man.)

(The player characters for BDL2 including a bisexual man (which is shown in canon, not just confirmed by the devs), an asexual woman (who is also confirmed to be the leader), another latino man, a nonbinary person, a disabled girl genius, and Krieg.)

(The player characters for The Pre-Sequel including a disabled man, a robot, a lesbian woman (who ends up in a relationship with another woman by the end of the game), an older black woman, a millennial, and an Indian woman.)

(And I’m also including Ellie in here because she’s a fat woman who is confident in herself and isn’t made into a joke and you get to kill a bunch of people who try to make fun of her)

…and doesn’t fall into the trap of being “gritty” and “realistic” by making a bleak, beige landscape. While the world of Pandora is a hellhole, it looks honestly awesome. 

It’s colorful and vibrant, with amazing characters and it’s hilarious, but doesn’t shy away from darker moments. (Spoilers in links)
