In Catalan we have an insult that's half in Latin. And it often comes very handy.

The insult is tros de quòniam. "Tros de" means "piece of" in Catalan, while "quoniam" is not a word that exists in Catalan outside of this expression. Instead, it means "because" in Latin. Thus, it means "piece of because". Can you guess what this insult refers to?

It means a stupid person who acts like they know everything, they go around giving explanations on why things are the way they are, being pedantic about it (thus the Latin), but they are stupid and are always wrong about it.

It's said that the expression might have its origin in ecclesiastical circles, when some difficult topic would come up and that one monk or priest would jump to giving lessons. I can imagine him staring with his "Quoniam..." ("Because...") and all the other monks looking at each other like "not again!"
