It seems a lot of people refer to 'travelling' as their subconscious way of saying 'escaping' or 'finding somewhere better than where they are now', 'finding happiness somewhere else, feeling freedom, feeling acceptance.' And often times when these people visit these countries on a short term basis it appears all their wishes come true.  However, on nearly every single diary or online blogpost of peoples experiences in other continents the story ALWAYS changes. Before I wrote this I was reading a tale of a girls experience of teaching English in Thailand. Her initial blog posts are completely loving the culture shock and the pure euphoria of being in a new place. But months on she speaks of the realisation that Western Culture is not as bad as she thought, she was involved in a car accident and the people stopped to take videos and pictures. People would stop and analyse who was the 'more beautiful' of two people. I already knew Asian culture was obsessed with beauty (especially Western beauty) and I haven't even been to Asia. I also know that many other countries in the world are more dangerous, but people seem to close their eyes to that. I already know that you won't find your ultimate level of happiness in any specific country or culture .. Because deep down you are only searching for freedom and happiness.  I feel like I'm not narrow minded in terms of travelling because my main drive towards wanting to see other countries is purely curiosity and opening my mind to how the 'others' live. I am not searching for 'another home', I know that you can never find a home in a place. People are very fickle when visiting a country short term and how it makes them feel. The reason you fall in love with 'new friends' and 'new places', is due to the fact we know our time in that place is limited. We know we are leaving and we create a fake happiness in those people or experiences. Think about it; if you spent 6 months or 6 years with those same people doing those same things I can tell you now that you would feel exactly the same towards the people/place as you do about your current life. Fickle little humans.. We need to wake up :-) ;)
