Dunk/Baelor/Maekar

He’s sat there, grappling with the fact that he just killed his own brother. By all rights, he should blame Aerion for starting this mess, for attacking the puppet girl. But he doesn’t. He seems to blame Ser Duncan, but that’s Targaryen honor talking. He knows it’s Aerion’s fault— and so it’s ultimately his own fault.

He didn’t intend to kill Baelor. He loved Baelor. He and his brother were close. Their relationship was strong and built on years of trust and friendship.

And then Egg comes in. And he’s clearly here to kill his brother. And the look the Maekar gives him…

Incredulous, and in disbelief. Not “what are you doing” but “Could you? Would you really?” And he already knows the answer.

How did this happen? How are his sons strangers to one another— worse than strangers— when he and Baelor were so beloved to one another? How is it that he’s grieving the death of his brother so wholeheartedly while his sons plot fratricide?

It’s no wonder he talks so fiercely about ‘Blood of the Dragon’ and Targaryen honor when he sees it put under so much strain.

This scene is so good. It’s so good that it makes that final scene, where Egg sneaks off without his father’s permission, mildly infuriating. Because it’s so so clear that this moment is pivotal. That no matter what Maekar’s first reaction is to hearing Dunk’s condition to take Egg to squire, he’d come back to this moment and ultimately change his mind.

Established Baekar. I don't know the entire context, like whether they've just always been together or it's just something they got into after they were both widowed, but the important part is that they're together when they get to Ashford (and that has to go differently because Baelor is not allowed to die here).

Enter Dunk.

Baelor and Maekar both thinking "Oh no, he's hot" immediately upon meeting Dunk. And then having a crisis. And then, well, perhaps they might both be a little bit (a lot) just having Dunk floating through their minds while they're in bed together later. But immediately calling each other out on it. "The fucking hedge knight, really?", "Well, you can't chide me for that when you're thinking of the same person." And then another crisis ensues.

(Yes, Dunk is also thinking "Oh, no- they're hot" and having his own crisis)

It is common knowledge that Prince Baelor and Prince Maekar are alphas.

And Baelor gets crowned Queen of Love and Beauty. Maekar finds his sons and cannot believe his eldest wants to run away to join a puppet troupe, and what the hell happened to Aegon’s hair?

Post Baelor being King and his reign going so well that he doesn’t need to be so secretive about Dunk being his lover? These two are LOUD LOUD. Leave the tower window open, you can hear it on castle grounds LOUD. They’re breaking furniture—Baelor is having extra large furniture made so Dunk can be comfortable and he’s having the Kingsguard carry it up. The Kingsguard are hearing things they do not want to be hearing and yet the silence is worse because that means one of them is being gagged.
