Moments of Infinity: The 30 Years In-Between (Part 1/?)
SO, because I'm full of random, scattered ideas after being a fan of Hellsing for two decades I feel the need to expunge upon a concept I've had for a while; the potential of Alucard's character while he was busy freeing the souls within his own in the 30-year interim he was 'gone'.
This led me to think of scenes that could happen as he achieves what is essentially omniscience as Schrodinger's 'powers' as an artificial vampire become a part of him.
Here is 1(one) scene I thought of...

It is Autumn. As it has been. As it will be. The church is illuminated in an eternal sundown, bathed in the Lord's everlasting warmth in the form of the Sun.
Orphans, children forsaken by parents who did not or could not raise them, play on the field as leaves fall. Everything *here* exists in slow motion, as if to preserve the innocence and joy, even in the eternity that exists here.
A tall figure draped in a red coat looks out at these abandoned children full of life, sat on one of the benches set outside the church, a tired smile on his face as he rests his elbows on his knees.
This is not his destination. Nay, he is certain he will not be afforded this joy when he crosses over.
No, he is here to simply witness... and to pay a quick visit to someone. Someone who he is fairly certain resides here somehow.
Slowly, the figure in red raises his pale head, his smile softens further as all of a sudden the one he seeks stands before him; towering, powerful, his face alight despite facing away from that eternal sunset. His crucifix shining a warm light. His gaze as intense as the first time he saw it, yet lacking the sharp edge it carried in their exhilarating moments of battle.
"What... ye be here for, Monster?" The towering priest grumbled.
"Passing by." The vampire replied simply, as if this phenomenon was as trivial an action as getting out of bed.
"Aye..." The priest sighed as he took a seat next to the vampire, both looking out at the sunset as well as the children who continue playing.
"I have to say, I didn't expect it to look like this." The vampire chuckled, amused and yet felt a touch of warmth.
"What *it* is ye think dinnae make a difference.... the world ye believe t' be in may not... nay, never will be. Only existing in your mind. Thine own manifestation." The priest answered bluntly, assuredly... just as the vampire knew he would.
"That's fine with me." The vampire smirked sadly. "What is my own life but a dream I refuse to wake up from."
The priest sat still for a moment until he leaned back, grumbling. "Aye... yet it does not end here... nor there, does it not? Ye still try... ye still try to purge thine own soul... knowing ye still be damned in the end..."
"Yes, of course!" The vampire chuckles. "Not like you'll be there to do it for me anymore~"
They sat in silence for a few more minutes, the sunset still in place.
"What do ye think ye shall find in the end, Monster?"
"Nothing. And everything. Something new. Something borrowed. Only I can choose that now."
"....Aye."
"Father... speak to me... a passage before I go."
"....Very well."
The priest pulls out a worn bible and opens to a certain page.
"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Matthew 7:13-14"
The vampire smiles and nods before getting up to leave, walking towards the sunset... the dusk... but still, the light. There was still work to do...
Ever think about how by 1999, over 500 years after his bloody reign of Wallachia, 100 years after terrorizing England, Alucard felt that his life has been worthless, that nothing ever good came from his rejection of God
Then, a random British policewoman showed up and her life actively became better thanks to him siring her
And how in the process of saving her, she saved him by proving that despite all that he's done and all he forsook he still, somehow, made a positive difference in someone's life
Seras is a guardian angel tethering Alucard to life when he would've happily thrown it away otherwise
...
I mean, there's also the notion that if not for Seras and EVERYTHING that happened afterward, he probably would've thought it perfect if Integra was the one to finally kill him. Hmm.

Yes, he is a very ruthless human weapon who has no qualms about killing anyone/thing that is considered a ‘heathen’...
But at the same time he is a very honorable, devout man of faith who is very kind to children and from what we’ve seen of his disciples elicits nothing but respect and adoration from those around him. Even his sworn enemy views him as a shining example of humanity.
And when it comes to people abusing their rank or their faith as a means to their own ends it disgusts him as he views it as a perversion of God and is just as blasphemous as any monster. (Sorry, Maxwell...)
But another interesting thing about him as that he respects those who find their inner strength be they a Catholic, Protestant and even a Vampire...he admires those who stand tall in the face of certain death or despair and praises them accordingly.
Anyway, Anderson is fucking awesome for a number of good reasons~

I don’t believe that Walter didn’t love Integra or Seras at all and even though he basically used a young Integra as a means to resurrect Alucard I don’t think he wanted her dead and this really stings.
Walter allowed his hatred for Alucard to boil and stew inside him for half a century and he never really let go of that part of him and he let it define him. Yes he grew old with Arthur and took care of Tegs and became friends with Seras but there was always that part of him he could never let go and he let himself come to terms with that.
I think this hatred was manifested from some form of an inferiority complex. Even as a young teenager Walter truly believed he was the Angel of Death and was THE most proficient Freak hunter in the world. Arthur obviously had very high hopes for him and he wanted to show his worth.
It is only in the end that he realizes that he wasted 80% of his life for nothing and I actually believe that even if he DID land the killing blow on Alucard he probably would have still felt the same.
Now the majority of this is speculation because Hirano likes to keep things frustratingly vague but I think it’s worth discussion
What if Alucard achieved total omniscience after purging all the souls he contained save for Schrodinger?
What if fully absorbing Schrodinger’s soul gave him the ability to break the fourth wall and screw with any and every form of reality that he deemed possible?
Alucard just traversing alternate universes, visiting Anderson in the afterlife, travelling through time and space to the edge of existence just for the fuck of it.
Maybe...even screwing around so that he returns much sooner than 30 years???
Between his torture and subjugation, him being locked up in a cell for many years, as well as not really caring too much about his physique he wouldn’t really look fit. (yes he can change his appearance but I don’t think he gives much of a shit)
His tall, lanky structure + his somewhat broad shoulders makes him all the more menacing and cool creepy
I am honest-to-gosh astounded that Hirano was actually able to create a female villain who was actually intimidating, antagonistic AND shock of all shockers IN NO WAY SEXUALIZED AT ALL!!!

Headcanon: post timeskip Alucard is a complete slacker. Well to be fair he doesn’t have all that much to do either, but he doesn’t revel quite as much in carnage and killing.
He spends his nights in movie theatres and busy diners, in closed bookstores he has no business being in.
He enjoys people watching. Looking on as so much life passes him by
Imagine some poor guy going into his bookstore one night because he forgot something, and he turns the corner to find some eldrich lookin’ creature sitting on the floor, eyes shining like a cat, reading Hemmingway.
