“Everyone feels robbed of their teenage years that don’t really exist” yeah but the experience of losing your teen years to mental illness, homophobia, transphobia, and other forms of bigotry is different than being a non-mentally ill cishet teen who isn’t living life exactly like it is on tv
May i add esp kids of color brown and black kids are constantly forced to grow up faster and are denied their teen and childhood years bc of the racism they endure
You may absolutely add this!!!
Yeah I didnt really have a teenage-hood. Or childhood much..
Due to depression, autism, queerness, depression, anxiety, depression, and seasonal depression.
I dont think I mentioned depression.
Like my husband and I were talking the other day and he was listening to some silly song from his childhood and said "Its nice remembering stuff before things got so complicated."
And I was just like "Ywah....wait..no."
CAUSE ITS ALWAYS BEEN COMPLICATED
Until now, that it.
My late 20s have bèen the best years of my life.

We’re all having “hard conversations” about racism, police brutality, and #BlackLivesMatter I hope.
You’ve probably noticed that detractors often use the same “racist talking points” in response. Here’s a researched and sourced guide to help you answer, for the times you may get stuck.
Feel free to save these images and share them!

“Corporations supporting things like BLM and Pride is largely performative and shouldn’t be overly praised or focused on. They’re just trying to do what they think will earn them money” and “Corporations openly showing support for things like BLM and Pride are incredibly important” and not mutually exclusive ideas.
Corporation support is not the source of social change, it’s the visible indication of it. A mall covered in rainbow flags with ‘pride month sales!’ is nothing that makes LGBT people more accepted, nor do tweets from companies about supporting the BLM protests do anything to stop police violence, but they DO show the shift in public mindset. Corporations don’t take risks. They don’t make bold statements that they feel are unpopular or will lose them money or support. They’re a litmus test for when a statement or symbol that has been taboo becomes a commonly held belief.
When a corporation makes these kinds of statements, it means that the people out there fighting every day for these movements are having an effect. Their fight is causing a change in social perception to the point where businesses who carefully choose every single thing they say can post about solidarity with protesters and feel confidant that they are saying something that represents the feelings and beliefs of the majority. A mall being covered in Pride flags is a sign that the country will accept a mall filled with Pride flags. That those working to make social and cultural change are succeeding.
This this this this FUCKING THIS.
Ok but Facebook has been all up my ass lately with BLM ads and charities and shit
Yet at the same time froze my account 4 times for saying "white people" or "men" in a comment.
Yet in 3 on those instances the white people I was Talking TO were being super aggressive and racist n shit.
I made a new account cause my old one got automatically flagged if I used the words "white", "men", or "man".
So no I dont believe all this Pride and BLM support marketing bullshit.
They literally are only doing this to MAKE YOU WANNA BUY SHIT
Cause you'll probably think "At least theyve got the balls to say it"
But they only do when it benefits them. Like in Pride month, or during civil rights protests like with BLM lately; the companies are more likely to pull in more revenue if they market at these very specific times.
But theyre still protecting white men. Not even just rich white men, just white men in general.
And for the record...

Peter Joseph on structural violence, from this video.
Brilliant
Spot on. Like Coretta Scott King said, I must remind you that starving a child is violence. Neglecting school children is violence. Punishing a mother and her family is violence. Discrimination against a working man is violence. Ghetto housing is violence. Ignoring medical need is violence. Contempt for poverty is violence.
“There is no Pride for some of us without liberation for ALL of us” - Marsha P. Johnson
These past few weeks have been painful for all of us, more so for Black people than any other community. Celebrating anything right now, let alone Pride, might make you feel guilty or uncomfortable, but it’s more important than ever to have these discussions. Pride is more than a parade or a celebration. The spirit of Pride stems from protesting for equal rights.
The first Pride was a revolution ignited by the participants in the Stonewall uprising fighting back against police brutality. Black and brown trans women have always been at the forefront in the battle for LGBTQIA+ rights, with Marsha P. Johnson, Miss Major Griffin-Gracey, Storme DeLarverie, and Sylvia Rivera emerging as prominent activists. With that in mind, it’s important we use Pride month as an opportunity to amplify Black and brown voices and fight racism within the LGBTQIA+ community.
Not everyone is able to take to the streets in protest or has money to donate, but there are still ways the Tumblr community can unite and make a difference. That’s why we created #ActsofPride, an action list for this Pride month.
We hope these prompts offer you an opportunity to learn, reflect, speak out, spark conversations at home, to lift up our Black and brown peers, to experience Pride through an intersectional lens. Think of this as a nurturing space for self-expression. Or use it to reflect upon how Pride’s revolutionary history can drive a future where the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies commit to keeping this fight and conversation going on a daily basis and not just when it dominates the headlines.
Take care of yourself, look out for your friends, make your voice heard, and most importantly, have a happy Pride!

I keep up with my areas COVID response team on Facebook. Just to see what's going on, I dont leave the house much at all anyway so it doesnt really affect me a lot.
But literally All the comments were old ass white boomers complaining that "protests are allowed" but they cant go to church.
...
And also boomers stating so proudly that they will Not be social distancing or wearing a mask.
So....
Yeah America is doing great. We are having another Civil Rights Revolution and still in the very middle of our pandemic and old white people are just worried about Jebus and casinos.
Just like old times.

I can hear this gif...
Ive spent the last hour and a half sitting on my bedroom floor trying to carve a dick out of wood
Under normal circumstances I might be concerned with my well being, but under Quarantine circumstances this is just a regular Sunday night.
