* SINNER / SAINT ?

        ❝   sometimes,   i wonder if any of this is real.   ❞   his voice holds none of its usual warmth.   dark circles under his eyes testify to the fact that he’s not slept in a while.   he looks up to the sky   &   smiles,   but it doesn’t meet his eyes.   ❝   i mean,   we’re in space,   fighting a war against a ten thousand year old empire.   it doesn’t seem real,   does it?   ❞ 

he nods along as hunk speaks, a small, sympathetic smile creeping across his lips as his expression turns sheepish. they had talked briefly about it before, but he hadn’t had a chance to go into detail; and the concept alone makes matt’s very scientific mind start spinning with eager energy. 

             “ sounds awesome, ” he says, enthusiastic. “ I’m sure it’s not that bad.              let me take a look… ”

ten lines in and he is… lost. as lost as he had been on that galra ship. which language is this? where did this variable come from? his expression shifts slowly as he continues to parse what hunk has just thrown up on his screen, from optimistic to knit brows and confused.

                                                     yeah, okay. maybe he wasn’t exaggerating. 

            “ I, uh… I think I can do something with this. ”

fingers begin their movements across the hard light keyboard, a feeling that is at this point practiced and natural. it’s not as satisfying as the clacking of his mechanical on earth, but infinitely cooler. 

           “ does it run? ”

      ❝   does it run?   no,   uh,   actually,   about that   --   it,   uh,   it kinda breaks things?   like,   i tested it on this thing coran gave me   &   i think i accidentally murdered it.   seriously,   i wouldn’t run it.   i really don’t know what i’m doing.   this is a lot harder than i realized.   ❞ 

      programming is clearly not one of hunk’s many talents.   maybe he should leave that to the holt siblings instead of messing with things he doesn’t understand.   good ideas,   he has plenty,   ( after all,   good ideas are like,   his thing. )   but he really couldn’t code anything more complicated than a really basic website.
