“Devils are beyond redemption.” she says softly, starlight sliding over her skin. There is blood and tears and pain wrapped neatly in lies and pretense, lies so smooth that sometimes she forgets the truth.
Her laughter is bitter, torn from a heart long since broken and never quite healed. There is no redemption left for her, there has not been sunlight for a long long time. How ironic this is, this conversation on a ship surrounded by stars that could be suns. Their light is so cold as she turns to him, the only shards of redemption in her the fondness in her gaze.
“You are no devil. There is still hope, for you.” she says, and hopes for him, hopes that his strength and courage never falter. She hopes for his redemption, just as she hopes for his future. It is all she can do.
