I finally got down to my storage unit, where most of my personal anime collection resides. In it are these two lovely enamel character pins of Van Fanel and Hitomi Kanzaki! Picked these up in Japantown, San Francisco, CA in the late 2000s at a collectibles store. It’s a shame they aren’t designed to gaze at each other. I believe these were created along with other Bandai-Sunrise characters from Cowboy Bebop and The Big O.

I think seeing this sequence when I was very young permanently rearranged my brain. The frame rate??? The anatomy??!?? Her eyes widening for a split second, her body has a heaviness, a heft as she moves?????
The level of artistry is just unmatched. This film came out almost 30 years ago in 2000!!

A guest in Freid a fan art story of Prince Chid
As prince Chid was about to do some preparations, a messenger carried a letter that a guest from the blue kingdom would come to pay a diplomatic visit as Chid is being notified by the message although he has not heard of such a kingdom. As for his surprise, when he first saw him, he thought Allen Schezar came all the way from Asturia for a visit, but this mysterious guest name is Andrew van der Sanders, the 4th king of Aguaria (another world from Gaea) also known as the blue kingdom. A kingdom surrounded by mystical creatures, where some people have magical powers but the one who carries the powerful gem stone is called the Guardian. King Andrew does not bring any royal guards with him but a little magical elf fairy named Sifia ( the one who passed the letter to one of prince Chid's men). Out of excitement, prince Chid calls him Allen Schezar knight caeli of Asturia, both king Andrew and Sifia were stunned. As prince Chid introduces himself as the new ruler of Freid, in the back of King Andrew's mind, he was surprise to meet such a very young ruler of Freid as he introduces himself properly to prince Chid. As prince Chid apologizes for the confusion because he looks so much like Allen Schezar, his Majesty kindly smiles gently and accepts his apology. As the two leaders are having a bilateral diplomatic talks continue in Freid.

What a handsome rebel leader. Finally I was able to draw the movie version of Hitomi x Allen. I could imagine if Hitomi would be romantically involved with Allen but they have less interaction with each other in the movie version. It took me 4 hours to draw Allen's mercenary clothing far from the gallant knight in the series version.
The kind of friendship Hitomi and Yukari. Both supported each other's happiness.

The Vision of Escaflowne Episode 7 Screenshot Redraw
Ever since I got to know a bit of “The Vision of Escaflowne”, this one scene in episode 7 always stood out to me. In the original Japanese version along with the Funimation redub, I can never get over how Hitomi hiccups as cutely as a chipmunk or mouse after getting herself drunk from three glasses of wine/vino. Granted, she DOES end up getting captured after a certain… revelation (wink, wink). But, and I paraphrase Bow about Catra’s sneeze, I can hardly believe the whole time Hitomi’s respective actresses (Maaya Sakamoto and Caitlin Glass) career in voice acting, and they had the cutest hiccups of all time! ^_^
On the other hand, as for the drawing itself, I realized I got some proportions off and Hitomi’s eyes in this shot look rather crooked. Not to mention the background and foreground look a bit off. But if I should try again next time, I might get this as accurate as I possibly can.
