I find myself fascinated by how colorful certain places in Fanelia are decorated. While the rest of the capital looks pretty run down this might be a clue to some former wealth. Who knows, maybe some ancestor spent all the money on purchasing a certain battle toy?

Could this perhaps be a reference to the chrysanthemum, Japanese symbol of monarchy? Anyway look, the future king inside a pretty flower!

Escaflowne‘s temple and some… tombs? Anyway, look at that pretty wall tattoo and the mosaic on the ground. Doesn’t get any more magical than this.

Folken and some cool street art. I think he is standing in the ruins of the castle.

My fan art for @riafunnel depicts a meeting of two royal families on Gaea. On a state visit to Fanelia, a younger Eries and Millerna encounter Folken and Van while walking along the Fanelian castle corridors. The two groups of siblings haven’t officially met in more formal circumstances yet. Therefore, they show their personalities to each other in a more natural and spontaneous way in this meeting.

Back to normal Escaflowne illustrations! Working on my doujinshi still, but here is a scene/ illustration for it <3 I have been having fun with looking at traditional Japanese wedding attire. I think it would fit the feel of the series (since Fanelia is basically Edo era Japan?)
