There’s still a lot of love for 10 Things I Hate About You. When was the last time someone came up and sang ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’ to you?

No-one has sung Frankie Valli to me! It depends where I am but, yeah, people do remember that film. As much as I cringe - imagine you had a home video of you at 17 for all the world to see, you’d feel slightly embarrassed - it’s really special and rare to be in a movie that people remember more than ten years later. I look at it as a blessing. 

Could you sense Heath Ledger’s dramatic chops even at that young age?

Absolutely, and he had such a magnetic personality. We had a great time, spending the summer in Seattle making a movie. And very pure too. None of us were jaded - not that I’m jaded now! - but we were so excited to be there and not self-conscious. I recently found photos from the dancefloor of the wrap party. I can’t remember who was busting the most outrageous moves. I’d like to say it was me but it’s a bit of a blur now (laughs).
