At least amid the hot mess this was, there was a degree of self awareness of what is actually happening in the world and that this wouldn’t be welcome. Of course that being said, from what I’ve read the TV show isn’t fully dead yet. They are taking the reboot to other networks and trying to get someone else to pick it up.
