Hayden was grateful for the mini pack between him, his wife, his best friend, and his best friend's husband.

This labor had been dragging out for quite awhile and Shane and Ilya had been watching the kids and making sure their needs were being met.

Jackie and the midwife both were watching Hayden’s body language, knowing once he hit transition phase, things would start moving fast. Though he didn’t seem quite there just yet.

“Hey—“ Shane greeted as he stepped into the room, arms full of water bottles that he set on the dresser.

“Ilya has the kids occupied with Moana and some snacks.” Shane explained as Hayden gave a tired nod, his head resting in Jackie’s lap.

“How are you doing Hayd?” Shane asked gently, passing the water bottles around.

“Mm- fine. Just tired.” Hayden shrugged, moving to sit up, taking the water bottle with a small thanks. Popping open the lid, he took a few sips before setting it to the side.

Hayden couldn’t help but grimace and clench his jaw as another contraction came over, probably the strongest one yet.

“Breathe.” Jackie reminded gently, rubbing his lower back and adding gentle counter pressure as he nodded.

Shane had hovered, not entirely sure where to be- while he was support when needed, he also knew Hayden didn’t care for being cooped up around so many people at once while he labored.

As the contraction ended, Shane glanced towards the door, hearing one of the kids downstairs.

“Ah— Arthur might’ve lost his crocodile, I’ll be downstairs okay?” Shane spoke as Jackie nodded and Hayden gave a small thumbs up.

Quickly and quietly slipping out the door, making sure it was closed- Shane headed back downstairs to help out with the kids once more.

Hayden let out a shaky breath, shifting to lay down on his side again, letting out a quiet groan as another contraction took hold.

“Shh shh..” Jackie soothed, rubbing his side gently as he whimpered in pain.

“I’m feeling a lot of pressure—“ He admitted.

“I know..” Jackie spoke, gently wiping his face and neck with a wet washcloth.

As the contraction peaked, he couldn’t help but growl in pain, eyes squeezed shut.

“Breathe Hayden-“ Jackie reminded once more, allowing him to squeeze her hand.

As the contraction finally let up, he was left panting and trembling.

“Mind if I do a quick check?” Their midwife Lisa asked as Hayden nodded, shifting to sit up against the headboard.

Lisa had cleaned her hands and put on a fresh pair of gloves before doing a quick check, muttering apologies.

“Well, you are feeling pressure because you are 8cm, so right in the transition stage.” She explained, tossing her gloves into the mini waste basket by the bed.

Hayden nodded, “yeah.. great.” He huffed, always dreading one of the most intense parts of his labor.

“Do you still want to deliver here? or somewhere else?” Jackie asked gently as Hayden nodded.

“Yeah- don’t really have the energy to get up right now.” He admitted.

Jackie nodded, leaning in to kiss his cheek before grabbing her phone to send a quick text to Shane.

Transition didn’t last as long as it had during Hayden’s other labors, this time it was 30 minutes tops.

But he was still insanely uncomfortable and in a lot of pain, sitting on his hands and knees on the floor, feeling like he had more area to move around as needed.

“Ow ow ow—“ Hayden groaned at the sudden sting, hissing lowly.

“Good, good job Hayden.” Their midwife spoke gently. “Heads almost crowning, one more push.” She said,

“Ugh—“ Hayden panted, giving another small push as he dug his nails into the floor, letting out a small cry of pain.

“Good! Just pant.” Lisa spoke.

“Good job babe-“ Jackie soothed, wiping down his face as he tried to pant through the burn.

He couldn’t help but whimper as more and more of the head came free before it was completely out.

“Oh fuck!” Hayden whined, trying not to jerk.

“Let me check for the cord okay?” Lisa spoke, quickly checking, grateful the neck was clear.

“Okay Hayden, one more big push then you’ll have your baby okay?” Lisa smiled.

All Hayden could do was let out a little grunt, soley focused on delivering the shoulders.

With one last push, the rest of the body slid out and the baby was placed on Hayden’s chest.

After a few seconds, the baby girl let out a loud cry of protest as Hayden let out a shaky laugh, shifting to sit back against his wife as he held their newest daughter securely against his chest.

“Wow she’s beautiful, Hayd..” Shane mumbled as he held his newest goddaughter in his arms, rubbing her little cheek with the pad of his thumb.

“Thanks.” Hayden grinned, honestly he was glad it was all finally over and they had a new baby to love on.

“So- when will you two have a baby hmm?” Jackie teased softly as she watched Ilya who was admiring his mate holding a baby.

Shane’s head snapped up, cheeks bright red.
