His belly growled again and he sniffled. He just wanted to eat. At the orphanage they had given him food. He didn’t understand why they sent him away. Nobody had explained it to him. They’d just thrown him out one day and he didn’t know where else to go.

He doesn’t make any sudden movement when the child sneaks up to his side, but he’s so lacking in subtlety that even his neighbors on the street notice, and one old man makes a dangerous motion and shouts-- and when the child flinches back, Elucifer sighs and turns to face the old man, shaking his head before he turns that earnest gaze upon the thief.
