Over the weekend my blog hit 1500 followers and I want to say a big THANK YOU! to all of you who follow me. When I first got on tumblr 3 years ago I barely understood the point of this website and I never anticipated getting involved in a fandom and writing fic and creating gifs and all that stuff that is so fun for me now. I think that the majority of the people who follow me probably follow me for my fics because thatβs mostly what I post and I never would have started writing fic in the first place if it wasnβt for all the amazing writers in this fandom who inspired me to try it for myself. So for this milestone I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite Olicity fics that I could re-read over and over again, like I want to have them printed out and bound into books that I can put on my shelves. (I narrowed this list down to just complete, multi-chapter fics or else it could get waaaaayyy too long)
With Our Backs to the Wall (The Darkness Will Fall) by @theirhappystory
Hands down, one of the best fics I have ever read. I downloaded it onto my kindle and basically read it in one sitting. The plot was really well thought out and kept you guessing, the Olicity scenes are *fire emoji*, and overall itβs just an amazing story that rivaled lots of published books Iβve read.Β
Game ChangerΒ by @bri617aroundtheworld
If youβve read any of my stuff, you know I love a good sportβs AU and this one is super, super cute because Oliver is a single dad and a football player. This was one of the first Olicity fics that I ever read and I definitely need to go back and re-read it again because itβs so good and just puts a smile on your face with how romantic and sweet Oliver is.Β
Rumour Has It by @overwatchqueens
When I first started reading this fic it was like the middle of the night and I was worried I was going to wake up my whole family because I could not keep myself from laughing. The banter in the beginning of this fic when Oliver and Felicity βhateβ each other is absolutely hilarious. The plot is also really creative and a bit of a mystery so itβs fun to speculate whatβs going on with the characters and what secrets theyβre keeping as you read.Β
Between Love and Skate by @dettiot
When this story first showed up in my inbox I had never seen Cutting Edge before, so I quickly found the movie to watch before I read the AU. When the end credits rolled I just knew that I was going to fall in love with this fic. It combines everything that I loved about the movie with the arrow characters perfectly. Especially the banter and tension between the two main characters in the movie, which was part of what made it so good, was executed really well with Oliver and Felicity in the fic.Β
Canβt Escape this Now by @callistawolf
Arranged marriage is pretty much my trope kryptonite. I love reading as the characters are put in this awkward situation that they donβt want to be in at all but ever so slowly they start catching themselves acting like a real couple and realizing that maybe itβs not as bad as they thought. This fic is super tropey and fun but it has a good plot too.
Tell Me a StoryΒ by @anthfan
This fic takes place post season 1 and is like one of the OG Olicity fics. Even though a lot of stuff, like the details about Felicityβs family, arenβt canonically accurate now I still find myself re-reading and enjoying this story. I love the fake dating trope so much and this is a really good execution of it. Plus, it gets several fire emojis for the tension between Oliver and Felicity.Β
The Strings We Attach by @queenmerlyn
Another trope that I love is theΒ βoh we should definitely not be doing thisβ but oops here we areβ (is that a trope? is there a more concise name for it?). This fic is so so fun, thereβs flirting and banter and ummmβ¦ a nice tour of various under-appreciated locations in QC ;)Β
So there you have it, a few Olicity fics that I will never get tired of re-reading!Β
