HO BOY. It's been quite a few months, but I finally found the time to finish another round of Snoopy e-sim commissions. I had the lovely opportunity to draw everyone's favorite Princess x Scoundrel in Snoopy form for a very talented writer friend of mine!

We had—wait for it—64 fanworks created this year on Tumblr, plus 5 extra fics posted on Ao3 🥰 This has been one of our busiest years yet, and we were very happy to see older and newer fans joining in the fun and creating something, even for multiple days. So, thank you so much, everyone, you rock!

Han Solo wasn’t sure what to do. The Falcon was at a bit of a standstill, inside an asteroid, believe it or not. It was a long story. Luke was away doing… something, and had taken R2 with him. Meanwhile C-3PO, Chewbacca, and Princess Leia were all working on different parts of the ship. He sighed. Might as well join them… Absentmindedly, Han entered an area of the ship he assumed nobody was working on. However, he had to pick the one area she was working on. He debated turning around before she noticed, but he’d have to face her sometime, so why not now? He and Leia had had a few arguments recently, and now was as good a time as ever to get back on track. He preferred to get along with her, though he treasured any time spent with the Princess. He stepped forward and reached around her for a lever, but she shoved him backwards. He frowned. Apparently she wasn’t as eager to make up as he was.

“Hey, Your Worship! I was only trying to help.”

She returned the frown. “Would you stop calling me that?”

Han nodded, unsure how to respond to that. “Sure, Leia.”

Leia just rolled her eyes, not looking away from the panel she was fiddling with. “You make it so difficult sometimes…”

Han had to laugh. “I do. I really do.” He paused. “You could be a little nicer, though,” he muttered.

The Princess smiled slightly at this. Han grinned. “Come on, admit it. Sometimes you think I’m alright.”

Leia flinched, having gotten distracted enough to pinch her finger in the panel door. “Occasionally, maybe. When you aren’t acting like a scoundrel…”

Han raised an eyebrow. Normally, he would have been insulted, but somehow every attempt Leia made at insulting him ended up sounding more like a compliment. “Scoundrel? Scoundrel? I like the sound of that…”

He took her hand and rubbed it, trying to make the pain go away. She stared at him for a few moments in surprise before muttering, “Stop that…”

“Stop what?”

“Stop that. My hands are dirty…”

Han could tell that was her attempt at stopping this from going any further. He knew why, Luke had once told him that Leia preferred things simple. And so far, their relationship had been anything but simple. And the possibility that it might be taken up a notch was even less simple. “My hands are dirty too. What are you afraid of?”

Leia blinked. “Afraid?”

He smiled. “You’re trembling…” He could feel her hand quivering in his, presumably from a mixture of fear and excitement over… whatever this was. Han felt the same way, though he’d never admit it.

She shook her head, and Han noticed a slight pink tint to her cheeks that hadn’t been there before. “I’m not trembling…”

“I think you like me because I’m a scoundrel. You need more scoundrels in your life.” Han said this kind of thing all the time, why was speaking to Leia so daunting?

Leia shook her head again, and the pink in her cheeks darkened. “I happen to like nice men,” she whispered, though as she said this, a smile crept across her face and she inched closer. Han’s heart was pounding. He couldn’t look away from her. “I’m ‘nice men…’”

Leia’s smile got even wider, and she couldn’t hide it… or didn’t want to hide it anymore. “No… you’re not… you’re…”

Han couldn’t tell which one of them made the move. Perhaps both of them did. But before he could react, their lips were pressed together in a kiss. Leia pulled away, gazing at Han with those big beautiful brown eyes. “Okay, hotshot,” she murmured, putting her arms around him and kissing him again.

I was reading some threads and watching some videos calling out Han and Leia's romance being "creepy" and "predatory."

I feel like a lot of people don't understand these characters in context. Leia Organa is the definition of guarded. She’s a leader of the Rebellion, carrying the weight of an entire galaxy, and the grief of a destroyed planet on her shoulders. She’s smart, disciplined, constantly in control. Han Solo is a scoundrel with a very obvious crush. He’s been flirting with Leia since ANH, teasing her not because he’s trying to manipulate her, but because he knows she feels something too and won’t admit it.

Their tension isn’t manufactured or forced. It’s built over the entire trilogy. It’s layered with mutual respect, stubborn pride, and unresolved romantic/sexual tension. That kiss doesn’t come out of nowhere. It’s been simmering. And it finally boils over.

Han flirts, Leia deflects.

He steps closer; she doesn’t move away.

He touches her hand; she doesn’t pull back.

He leans in VERY slowly; she doesn’t stop him.

And when he kisses her? She kisses him back and melts into it.

This is going to sound super weird, but if you go back and rewatch that kiss, watch Leia. Han leans in but Leia holds her lips out first and kisses him back.

AND LET'S NOT FORGET THAT EXTENDED CUT THAT WAS FUCKING DELETED WHERE LEIA SAYS "Okay, hotshot" AND FULL ON MAKES OUT WITH HIM.

People are overanalyzing that scene so much to the point where I have to overanalyze it now.

"bUt lOoK at HoW MuCh sHe ShAkEs hEr HeAd aNd tElLs hIm StOp tHaT"

She tells him to stop calling her "your worship." He does. He says, "sure, Leia." He massages her hands and she tells him to stop after 10 seconds of him doing so. Now, let's be so for real. If Princess Leia Organa had really wanted him to stop, she would've yanked her hands from him and kicked his ass. In fact, are we forgetting what happened at the beginning of the scene? She literally pushed him away when he first came into the circuitry bay to help her.

Leia is now very close to Han and as she speaks, her voice becomes an excited whisper, a tone completely in opposition to her words.

LEIA

I happen to like nice men.

HAN

I'm a nice man.

LEIA

No, you're not. You're...

He kisses her now, with slow, hot lips. He takes his time, as though he had forever, bending her body backward. She has never been kissed like this before, and it almost makes her faint. When he stops, she regains her breath and tries to work up some indignation, but finds it hard to talk.

Let’s be honest: we’re living in a post #MeToo world where people are (rightfully) more cautious about romantic media tropes. As someone who was unfortunately a victim of grooming and sexual harassment, I totally understand where people are coming from. But applying a modern TikTok lens to 1980s character-driven storytelling doesn’t always work. In this case, it erases:

Leia’s agency.

The mutual nature of the kiss.

The emotional arc leading up to that moment.

He’s not forcing her. He’s challenging her to be honest with herself. And when she is? The result is one of the most iconic, charged, and romantic scenes in cinematic history.

People resonate with this scene so much because it feels real. It’s messy. It’s two people who’ve been hurt, scared, and guarded their whole lives—finally letting their walls crack for just one second.

Han/Leia Appreciation Week 2025

It's (almost) that time of the year again! This year we moved the schedule back to August because it ended up working better for the mods AND that means we all get over a month to start working on our fanworks! 🎉

You might notice we went for a Rebellion-era vibe with the prompts, inspired by Andor, but as always, the prompts are very flexible and you can use them for any stage of Han and Leia's relationship.

Han/Leia Appreciation Week was an event originally hosted at @han-leia-solo between 2016-2019, but for the past few years, we've taken up the mantle here at @hanleiacelebration 😊

💙 How does Han/Leia Appreciation Week work?

The event will run from August 11th to August 17th, and there are two prompts each day that creators can fulfill with: fanfic, fanart, gifsets, graphics, fanvids, headcanons, crafts, playlists, rec lists. You’re encouraged to tag your posts with #hanleiaweek2025 so we can reblog them! After the week is over, we’ll share a masterlist with links to the works.

You can show your appreciation in many ways; however, please keep in mind that it has to be a creation of yours of some sort, e.g. don’t repost other people’s fanart, gifs, or unedited pictures. Rec lists should include a link to the original source both for fanfic and fanart (more on this after the cut).
