🌸- She puts her foot down enough to stabilize herself, not looking down to confirm the source of the voice until she was positive she regained her balance. There’s just enough room left on the gutter running across the tile roof for her to crouch down and see her classmate.
“...training.” she answers, though a bit more sheepish than usual. Tenko figured that she was far enough away from the male that she shouldn’t need to worry him touching him or anything, so it...was safe up here, right?
“The balance beam in my lab broke - and Owari-san says she comes out here to practice all the time. What’s wrong? You look worried...”
She gives a sudden gasp, as if she’d made a terrible realization.
“Is this about Oma-san?! Is he being a menace again?! Do you need me to stand next to you in a formidable and imposing manner?!”

🔧- Confusion fills the mechanic’s expression at her comment - surprise even. It’s clear that whatever reaction he’d been expecting, it wasn’t this. Though he tries to give off the impression that he’s an easy going guy, he couldn’t muster the ability to move on past a thanks that sincere. Not when he didn’t have a clue what she was getting so sentimental about.
“I..uh...what? W-what’s the big deal, Maria-chan?” He sounds more concerned for her, hand flinching away from the growing bruise on the back of his neck. He makes a conscious effort to try and stop guarding it so much, to bring attention away from it - but it sure doesn’t do any wonder for his already frayed nerves.
“Like I said, it looks worse than it is - but it’s not like anything’s broken.”
Now he feels pretty bad about venting to her. He wouldn’t have complained about it if he had known she’d make this big of a deal out of it.
“B-besides, this kinda thing happens all the time between me and my old man all the time. He was probably just to aim properly at the back of my head. It’s not like I felt he was gonna kill me or anything. Usually, if he’s really mad - he can get a lot worse. He just hit me once. So don’t make it out to be a bigger deal than it is, okay?”
He wants to add that it was his fault anyways - but somehow that felt like it wouldn’t help her. He already didn’t want to be the kind of jerk that would make a girl like her cry.
( Goddamit, the more he tried to to reassure her, it somehow felt like he was digging his grave deeper and deeper...her expression wasn’t showing any relief. He’d really fucked it up this time, hadn’t he? )

( so the @the-lytenye-realms realms came up with this amazing idea for a Genshin AU with Tenko. Basic idea of parents not being able to handle her, but this time instead of just for the crime of being a small child who throws tantrums, its because she sets everything on fire with her vision. Leaves with a previous member of the Guhua clan, more than likely- I’ll have to work out the details on that.
Other Genshin AU ideas because I have no self control:
-Akane using Anemo Vision to bring her parkour to the next level to parkour across rooftops in Mondstat
-Kazuichi being a runaway teen that tinkers with old machines in Inazuma. Can frankenstien them together and bring them to life with an electro vison
- Makoto not having a vision but behind an active part in trying to smuggle victims of the vision hunt decree out of Inazuma
- Yuta also not having a vision but joining the adventure’s guild as an apprentice for everyday tasks in hopes that he can get a hydro one just like his sister someday )

( I’ve been watching Aikido training videos lately and its making me realize how Tenko is able to read people’s intentions when she fights them ?? Like there’s actually some basis in reality for it
So much of this martial art is about using your opponent's momentum against them, and the harder they commit to an attack, the more force you’re going to have behind yours
And considering the attacker is always supposed to lose, it’s also massively unfair to create this ‘neo-aikido’ as such an aggressive form. For the first time, I think I might actually be starting to understand what makes Tenko the ‘ultimate’ in her field )
