One Step at a Time

And now I’m sick with flu-like symptoms.  Maybe those will actually make me fall asleep at a reasonable hour for once and then I can get back on track.

I guess I’m not doing my morning gym today. Probably I should take today to like meal plan and also plan when and how I’m going to meal prep so that I don’t buy a bunch of groceries that end up going bad in my fridge because I don’t actually want to prepare food :/  

(That happened last week.)

Because going to the gym is going well, but nutrition isn’t so much.  They say the best diet is one that you’ll stick to, and that seems to be my issue.  I make plans and goals but then life happens and it doesn’t match my plans and I get tired of having to improvise.  So I need to find an eating and cooking pattern that works with my life.

Workout log: August 27, 2018

I had a rough last half of the week last week, but I'm back at it today. I've also switched up my workout order so my upper body days are the ones following rest or cardio and core days, because my lower body days use my upper body more than my upper body days use my lower body, so I feel like that will tire me out less.

Anyway, I also backed down on weight a little in favour of getting more reps, and I hit a new PR! Next week I'll see if I can hit 6+ reps at 65lbs.

Workout logs for August 20 and 21!

Monday: Squats. I worked my way up to 85lbs for 8 reps (new PR! Yay!). Then I did a more Glute-focused accessory workout.

Tuesday: I put more weight on the bar, but didn't exactly hit a new PR... I did figure out that it's a big jump from lifting 55 or 60 lbs to lifting 65lbs. I may have overestimated my capabilities a little and had to do a roll of shame. Well, I guess now I know where the point that I need a spotter is. Whoops. I did a bit less accessory work because my right shoulder has been sore for the past few days and I also knew I'd be getting groceries after the gym.

Tomorrow is cardio and core but I might just do cardio and have an active rest day if I'm still quite sore - there's good soreness and then there's soreness that hampers your lifts and I don't want that kind.

Food logs: August 19&20, 2018

Sunday was a two pots of tea kind of day and I found myself feeling kind of anxious/bored, but I managed to stick to my macros.

Yesterday I was out all afternoon picking up a new mattress and box spring for my bed, so I had a bigger dinner than usual. Then I was once again hit by that weird boredom and usually that's a trigger to overeat, but I managed to curb the instinct and eat to my goals.

Also just a note: the cookie crisp is actually an alternative brand that I only had a bit left of, that isn't in the cron-o-meter database, so I just used the brand name stuff because it's macros are similar enough.

I'm actually kind of proud of myself for doing that, because it means I'm able to adapt when things aren't 100% ideal.
