The daughter of virologists in a world hellbent on human evolution at the expense of the many for the profit of a few, Sherry Birkin has witnessed great horrors since the tender age of 11. Left to her own devices for the majority of her childhood due to the absentee nature of her parents, she spent much of it longing for connection but met with isolation. The infamous Raccoon City Incident of 1998, left Sherry forever genetically altered from the G-virus that was created by her very own parents and doomed her to further loneliness as a test subject for the U.S. Government's top secret research. Once finally given the opportunity to escape her confined existence by becoming a government agent, Sherry seized it. She has since committed her life to combating bioterrorism in any way possible.

"Didn't know that was something to brag about," Sherry quips as she finishes up cleaning up the last of the wound on Claire's arm. She reaches for the bandages to the side of her and gets to work wrapping, eyes focused on what she is doing.

Like, at first, it's subtle for her. She's a little more tired than she's used to. There's a twinge of pain that she hasn't felt in a long time unless it happened directly after she had been hurt. Then she sees a dark spot on her body and it finally clicks that she can't pretend any of what she's experiencing is normal. Not with how her body operates. It was probably the first time she had felt a need to be legitimately concerned about herself in years.

"Then perhaps you shouldn't have made it so easy," Sherry responds, standing a distance behind him. The thing, Leon usually doesn't make it that easy. Another telltale sign that her feeling that something was amiss was on the mark. She usually didn't like to butt heads with Leon, but she wasn't someone that would let something go if she felt like it was going to hurt the other person in the long run.

"If you're hellbent on whatever you've decided to do, shouldn't you at least make sure you have a failsafe? Some back-up? Or at least someone else that knows what's going on in case you need help?" she takes a few steps closer as she asks the questions, a reasonable amount of concern in her voice mixed in with some sternness.

Sherry usually tries to put on a brave face in front of Claire. It's not something she had perfected when they first met. Not in the least— back then, she had heavily relied on Claire to be the brave one and for her to just try to match her pace. Perhaps she was still trying to match her pace with the way she had adapted the brave face of the person she owed her life to over the years. However, she knew that Claire already carried much on her shoulders, and she felt she shouldn't burden her further. Claire had done enough for her.

This didn't mean she didn't open up to Claire. She did. She was still someone that Sherry wanted to share important parts of her life with. She wouldn't hide from her. It's just— the heavier emotions Sherry carried? Claire didn't really need to know about those. Sherry could shoulder that on her own.

But it's at moments where Claire opens up to her that Sherry finds herself feeling stuck between saying too much and saying too little. How does one tell someone she understands the sentiment completely without it sounding like she agreed to the feeling of defeat that came with it? How does one try to turn it into a more positive direction without it feeling performative or forced? There's always a fine line to comforting people. It's hard to balance on.

"I've noticed that, especially in light of recent events," Sherry finally said, hands gripped lightly on her cup as she sat beside Claire on the couch. It was a sudden comment from Claire, something uttered during a lull in conversation. Sherry's thumb grazed the cup slowly as she looked up at the ceiling for a moment before she turned her head to Claire.
