audition song: waving through a window from dear evan hansen. typical style: he tends to stick to your typical ballads of any genre. musicals, power ballads, r&b ballads, pop ballads, etc. he's much more comfortable doing those, rather than anything dance-y. strengths: vocals & authenticity. voice of an angel and could potentially make you cry with his performance. weaknesses: his biggest weakness is dancing, kind of looks like a baby giraffe sometimes. has a hard time with undertaking tasks for the club, mainly due to the fact that he's always afraid that he's not actually fitting in.

✩: backstory.

dante hwang is born in pittsburgh, pennsylvania. he's born as the only child to both of his parents, one who happens to be a teacher, and the other being a data analyst. a very normal life was lead by them in pittsburgh, but it was filled with love. everything his parents did was always lead with love, making him to be rather kind, considerate, and warm in a sense. he takes his studies seriously, something that his parents always drilled into him, in a sense. they wanted dante to find his studies to be really important as well. so, he always took it seriously. parental loss tw : though, his life changes, when he loses both of his parents in an accident. it changes him too, not just his life, truth be told. he becomes even more quiet than he was before, a lot more shy, and he went into himself, like a turtle returning to it's shell. he wasn't sure how to deal with the loss, how to get through it, and everything in between. he was different and that's how it was going to be for dante. he moves with his grandparents on the other side of pittsburgh, a brand new school. he's picked on for being the new kid that didn't speak, and he doesn't make any friends because of this. simply, dante didn't know how to really open up for the longest time. he, however, finds a love for music, the thing that really helps dante open up. he becomes a pretty good singer, and he learns how to play both the guitar and piano, thanks to his grandparents. his life kind of moves up at that point, yet he still remains shy and quiet, something that never really seems to leave dante. but, he finds somewhat of peace in the way that he currently is. what else is he supposed to do? after high school, it takes a bit for dante to actually go to college, in a sense. he begins saving up money, simply because he didn't want his grandparents to worry about paying for anything. and sure, maybe dante could get a full-ride scholarship, but it wasn't something that he was banking on. he starts out at community college, before he gets into saint rivera university. he feels rather accomplished, to say the least.

dante is studying music therapy. it's sort of a back-up plan, just in case chasing after a dream of music doesn't ultimately end up working out. he simply wants to be able to help kids like him with loss, grief, and all that through music if possible.

he joined new directions in his freshmen year in hopes that he'd actually make friends. even if sometimes he sits in the back of the room to not be noticed. though, he really loves singing and he always comes alive when he's on stage, rather than the shy dude that doesn't say much.
