The Black Hole (1979) concept art. Iâve posted some before, but these were new to me.
My grandmother occasionally bought old comics and magazines for me at the local market. One day, browsing the formidable library that had amassed over the years, I found the storybook of this film. It was already a few years old then, and I was kind of intrigued: just the idea that stuff like this had happened in a different time, without me.

Extra cool fact about this photo - the polar bear is standing on the skull of the longest living mammal species on Earth, the Bowhead Whale! The oldest one on record lived an incredible 211 years!
This record-breaking lifespan is largely the result of an amazing ability to repair DNA and a near-immunity to cancer development.
Hereâs a fun tidbit from the Wikipedia entry on bowhead whales:
âIn May 2007, a 15 m (49 ft) specimen caught off the Alaskan coast was discovered with the 3.5 in (89 mm) head of an explosive harpoon of a model manufactured between 1879 and 1885. The harpoon was probably manufactured in New Bedford, Massachusetts, a major whaling center at the time, and experts estimated that the wound was inflicted around 1890. According to one analysis, the whale was probably harpooned sometime between 1885 and 1895. The whaleâs age at the time of death was estimated at between 115 and 130 years.[26][27][28][29][30] Spurred by this discovery, scientists measured the ages of other bowhead whales; one specimen was estimated to be 211 years old.â

The FCC sided with Comcast and decided to let ISPs censor the internet. The Internet needs to stop this from happening: http://cms.fightforthefuture.org/tellfcc/
Last Wednesday, FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler announced a proposal for new rules that would allow for a â fast laneâ of Internet traffic for content providers who are willing (and able) to pay a fee. [1] The proposal reverses the FCCâs previous commitment to net neutrality and open internet and allows ISPâs like Comcast or Verizon to slow down and censor services that donât pay the toll.
We have to be totally honest, this situation is seriously grim. But there is still hope. The FCC already knows that the Internet community wants net neutrality, but they think they can put their spin on these new rules and sneak them through. If we can prove them wrong right now with a massive public outcry, we can literally save the Internet once again.
We need to stop the FCC now. Big business groups are already ramping up lobbying efforts with the FCC in swarms since Wednesdayâs announcement in support of censoring the open Internet and to ensure this dangerous proposal moves forward. [2]

Iâve been following this cause since last year. Iâve signed petitions, Iâve called representatives, Iâve been to protests, the whole nine yards.
