Like, a lot of folks outside of the scene wonder “well wait, how is this a kink? Being made of rubber or a pooltoy or slime or enormously fat or 30 feet tall or inflated in any myriad ways isn’t sexy” but the thing is- a lot of us don’t look at it that way either- we yearn for the experiences, the sensations, the feelings associated, even if our imagining is far from what such things would be like in reality. It’s all rooted in a desire to live in a way that is traditionally inconvenient, yes, but which scratches an itch that seems to go “but wouldn’t it be grand? To be so delightfully inconvenient?”

The act of transforming into that which is different and strange but which is awash in sensations you desire to experience- that’s the core of what it is, that’s what drives many folks who would otherwise be repulsed by traditional eroticism to kink. It is in many ways a yearning for experiences and sensations in the same way, yet utterly different all the same.
