for example, when he got kicked out of the classroom, while yes he probably did do it simply because he wants to tell what the actual history was etc. etc. but it also feels like such a deliberate move in order for his dad to go to him, and leading him to his dorm room for his father to see for himself how much of a weird freak the boy his father is forcing him to room with. i mean his dad may have never gone to his room if only asked by alex but because he stood up to a teacher and shit he was bound to get some sort of scolding from his dad since despite his rebellious nature, alex somehow to me never seemed much to cause so much ruckus within the school grounds but idk

I've been thinking about the scene where Nigel says that his parents are probably away, busy with work, cutting to his dad being very much at the house; it's his way of either not wanting Alex to know the relationship he has with his parents, or keeping him completely separate from that part of his life.

Once Alex sees him as this abused kid, it'd break this little collective fantastical prophecy they've designed,, he needed it to be just them, completely isolated (which he was managing to do in every other aspect of his life) so that Alex could kill his dad with no guilt and really come into the jack Nigel knows he is.

I just always thought it interesting how Nigel really villainised his dad and tried to keep a light air about it, saying, "He's got the gun," with a smile on his face. To Alex, it turns into a threat not only to Nigel’s safety (he’s out of school and snooping around his house) but also his own.

Because if Alex had properly met his father (apart from the general dismissed meeting before the performance), he could not strip the human away from the person. If he had no prior connection or if he saw him only as a personal 'threat' to himself (and Nigel), then he could enact the prophecy, or at least wouldn't break from the bubble of delusion and connectivity they were both in.

This is all with the mind that Nigel had planned the murder of his parents out way earlier. (Or had at least wanted to and deemed Alex as his saviour Jack, that allowed it to be a possibility). In any case, I think trying to hide a friend away from your abusive family dynamic is always at the forefront of Nigel's mind (or anyone in that situation, really). So this scene really stood out to me and hit me in the feels whenever I watched it.
