@hawkyed¡ ;  â stop acting like youâre not bleeding out in front of me, this is serious! â
â kate, Iâm not â â minerva rips her mask down, breathing heavy,  â kate, honey, I am not bleeding out! â the bullets within her side spun a different tale. blood seeping from the wounds onto that of her suit; barely visible atop dark fabric, ripped at the entry points. sheâd had worse, that was true. minerva wasnât incapable of removing the bullets, either. though, she could already tell they were lodged too deep within her skin to do so just yet. theyâd have to wait. a cold rooftop in december truly was no place to bleed out, kate was certainly right about that.
â listen to me, â minervaâs hand moves towards her step-daughterâs shoulder. quickly retracting mid-air when she notices that of more blood atop gloved palm. â kate, I need you to go home. Iâll finish these last guys off, and head for the bomb. you did good, kid â and now I need to know that youâre safe while I handle this. â
â  yes  you  are ! â   her  shout  is  that  of  an  uncertain  toddler.  seconds  away  from  foot  stomping  to  the  ground  in  protest  that  the  punishment  laid  to  rest  in  their  way  is  unfair.  and  in  so  many  ways ,  kate  finds  it  easy  (  too  much  so )  to  slip  back  into  childlike  behavior  around  minerva.   â  youâve  got  it  ....  oh  my  god. itâs  everywhere. â   she  watches  with  slight  horror ,  focused  on  the  staining  of  gloves.  ones  that  shouldnât  even  display  the  hint  of  blood.  but  the  familiar  shade  of  red  is  all  she  sees.
sigh  works  through  the  youngerâs  lips.  itâs  an  uphill  battle  that  they  donât  have  time  to continue fighting.  maybe  the  idea  of  therapy  didnât  need  to  be  so  far  off  the  table.   â  no.  i  am  not  leaving  you. â   kate  straightens  the  strap  across  her  shoulder.  securing  the  quiver  with  few  arrows  still  left  inside.   â  you  need  back  up.  i  donât  care  ...  how  strong  you  think  you  are.  iâll  finish  off  these  guys  while  you  head  for  the  bomb.  we  stand  a  better  chance  of  keeping everyone  safe ,  of  keeping  you  in  one  piece ,  if  we  work  together.  please.  trust  me. â
