I did experience a brief, visceral moment of terror when I went looking for it just now and found it wasn’t in the box that I was certain I’d left it in, but I am deeply relieved to report that Unfinished Cheese Wax Gizmo (2022) has, in fact, not yet managed to escape my home and was rediscovered safely contained in a different box nearby that it must have crawled into at some point during the last four years. Its crude and unpleasant visage displeases me, but I know that it too looks upon me now and frowns in turn. We do not know each other as we once did, but I am holding the soft lump of wax that another me left alongside it in the box. A promise from the past to end some part of this suffering—for one of us at the least.

Alas, my reserve of cheese wax runs dry, and yet still this hapless creature remains crude, unpleasant, and most damning of all--unfinished. Though, is such not true of all of us? Are we not all vile, raw sculptures crafted from the soft, discarded cheese wax of the hands and meals of those who came before us? My tablet, miraculously, has returned to working order. This, I feel, is a sign that my duty is done for now. Unfinished Cheese Wax Gizmo (2026) will return to its box, until its time comes again.

...Now that you mention it though, the full title for that specific famous issue with the cover of J'onn on his Choco throne is actually "Revelations Five: Double Stuff" and the story where J'onn's cat happens to be introduced in gets pretty meta with the way it interacts with J'onn's past publishing history, so I would not be surprised if the name is actually a reference to that exact issue (which is delightful).
