if you are in your late 20's or early 30's you are finally beginning to experience a true sense of separation and alienation from youth culture and to natural identify more with other adults as your peers, and that's a normal part of being an adult and moving into that stage of your life, and you MUST recognize it as such and resist the ancient Joker's Trick that is the urge to jump to the conclusion that nothing has changed about you and it is instead the children that have gotten weirder.

There’s something to be said for the way the older generation adheres to social rituals that cultivate community… when I was younger I would be mad embarrassed when my aunt would have me meet random people & I’m still shy but I woke up went downstairs and she introduced me to all of the stonemasons working on the house, bunch of guys she was feeding fresh fruitcake and coffee to and it’s like… yeah this is nice actually. This is what is missing from a lot of modern lives. Like making real efforts at introductions & getting to know whoever is around you even if it feels a little bit awkward is good for growth.

I would love to switch expectations with men. Let ME be expected to be ripped as fuck, eat a shit ton of good food someone else cooked, be romantic with my partners, "protect and provide" (have a good career), be assertive and confident and smart. While YOU can live life on the easy mode you complain so much about. Hm? How about you starve yourself, put carcinogens on your face, squeeze into sheer cold fabrics, cook and clean, and never ever give any hint that you're confident in your abilities or better than me in my field?
