Cocona Instagram Update

"Hi, this is Cocona. 🐉 Today, I turned 20.☺︎ As I reach this new chapter in my life, I want to share something that’s been in my heart for a long time.

I am AFAB transmasculine non-binary. Earlier this year, I had top surgery. I was born and perceived as female, but that label never represented who I truly am. I live in a way that feels more masculine and true to who I am.

The hardest thing I’ve ever faced was accepting and embracing myself. But as I slowly began to do that, I was able to open a new door. That moment changed the way I see and understand the world, and it gave me the courage and strength to grow. Now, I can finally say, “There’s nothing wrong with who I am inside.” I was only able to come this far because of the people who listened and stood by me — my members, Simon-san, and my parents. 🫶 I’m truly grateful for this path, and for every miracle that brought us together.

This message turned out a bit long, but I just want to say thank you — for walking beside me and for supporting me all this way. I’m so excited for the future we’ll continue to create together with XG and XGALX. 🌏🌎🌍👽♾️

People criticize the ending of Yakuza 5 for Haruka acting stupid, ruining her idol career right at the door of superstardom by telling the crowd she was raised by an ex-yakuza in an orphanage and if being a celebrity forced her hide to that then she didn't want it anymore, but that's like the whole point of the overall storyline after Yakuza 1 — they can't ever resemble "normal" and what they consider family will never be seen as acceptable. Every game after he adopts Haruka isn't just about Kiryu punching ten thousand guys, he's continually fighting a system that refuses to recognize a family not born by blood (because a family that comes together from different blood is just like the yakuza! Get it?)

Yakuza 6 even starts with Kiryu finding out Haruka had a child during the timeskip between 5 and 6 (when he was in jail), and when she falls into a coma from a car accident Kiryu is told by child protection services that he was never Haruka's father because he's not related to her, and so he has no claim to his grandson, insane to him when he's raised Haruka as his daughter for 11 years by that point.

It really is in everything. Yakuza 3 had the CIA threatening to destroy Kiryu's orphanage just for a fake US military base in Okinawa. Yakuza 4 has Tanimura being raised as an orphan in Little Asia and thus fights for non-Japanese Asian communities, many of whom are trapped in Japan and alone. The whole climax of Yakuza 5 is based around the villain pitting his quest to leave his legacy to his blood son who cares nothing for him vs Kiryu changing his name and giving up his life in Okinawa so his adopted daughter could follow her dreams and become a star without the paparazzi linking her to an ex-con ex-yakuza.

It's so prevalent to Kiryu, that a huge chunk of his relationship page are just members of his wide, adopted family

This one is hilarious.

In Azure Moon, yes, he tanks. His entire mental state goes down the drain for a time. But when he is helped back up and learns to make the active choices to be better, do better, GET better, he stops wanting reasons to die and to be the one to experience death.
