yknow beyond the whole Nintendo's-legal-slave thing, it's also starting to piss me off when people talk about how inclusive and queer-positive the new Tomodachi Life game is. like don't get me wrong, I've been enjoying watching people play it and I plan on pirating it for myself, but at the end of the day, I can't make myself in the game. and it's not even because of my did or polyamory or something I wouldn't expect anyways, it's this:

there are no mobility aids. none.

like it's so blatant and I haven't seen anything about this!! you're telling me I can't even get a character with any of the more common ones like a wheelchair?! fucking lego sets are more disability-positive than this!!!!

at the end of the day, there's better reasons to boycott this company, but it just. stings to see everyone celebrating being able to finally create themselves while I'm still left in the dust. like sure, I can make myself a lesbian, but I can't even give myself a cane. and nobody talks about this.

this behavior is nothing new. the global south and everything in it - the people, the culture, our heritage - is seen as nothing more than a decoration or commodity to colonizers. i don't even need to bring up the koh i noor or the entire british museum; these examples are recent and egregious enough on their own.

ICE is attacking immigrants for now, but their goal is to subjugate all of us. Fighting for our neighbors today is a way of fighting for ourselves tomorrow.

No, stupid non-Asian baby… You absolutely cannot be against RPF (real person fiction) and also choose to identify as a “gachikoi” or “riako” in the context of your “yumeshipping”; the two are fucking mutually exclusive. Get. That. In. Your. Head. Now.

Maybe… Just maybe!! We should put our thinking caps on for a moment and actually bother to look into and educate ourselves on the terms we’re using and the toxic subcultures they originated from before blindly using them simply for sounding “cuter” and “more aesthetically pleasing”???

Perhaps there’s some very negative connotations linked to those labels that you wouldn’t want to be tied to out of mere ignorance. Especially if you claim to be against the very things they sand for. 🙃

But yeah, I'm begging you to please stop using terms that are heavily tied to extremely obsessive and parasocial fan cultures, which have historically been linked to actual real-world crimes like stalking, harassment, assault, and even murder in some cases. Show a sliver of respect to the idols and celebrities who have fallen victim and been lost due to the violence such subcultures actively encourage!!!

These labels have absolutely no place in self-shipping spaces!! Along with the constant inescapable usage of Japanese terms that have taken over and pushed many of us out due to rightful discomfort!! Learn to listen when others speak up on these issues and change your vocabulary for the better, thanks!
