So while I'm enjoying this time off before the new job, I'm finally cleaning up my TS2 downloads folder to be a bit more organized (due in part to playing again). Some thoughts from this experience include:
How the hell did I have. Multiple copies of the same damn meshes?? In several places!
I'm so glad over time we moved away from the naming format being [CreatorName] to just CreatorName followed by a hyphen or underscore. Spaces are eh, but better than the brackets for naming and the game reading them, iirc.
Clear file names are also very helpful, but I'll still take 4bcd123_FileName over just the string of numbers.
That said about the strings of numbers, with the exception of several rouge sims and lots in the regular folder, I'm really going to have to hunker down one day if I feel so inclined to actually figure out what these files are. This folder has been functional since about 2011 or so, which means there's a lot of random Exchange content on there that I can't just go to the website and verify like most of the other stuff.
At least for a good chunk of my subfolders I took it upon myself to label them, so this has been a fun trip down memory lane to see some creator's names I've come across. That said, I don't think all of them are active anymore, which was a sad thought. :(
