I couldn't stop telling you how wonderful you are, how smart and beautiful, how incredible and thoughtful. How much I just NEEDED to hear your voice. How much I liked you.

We danced around it for hours, 2 hours almost exactly, until I finally couldn't help myself:

"I love you. Will you be my girlfriend-fuck, I mean partner?"

And because you simply couldn't help yourself:

"are you putting a label on this?"

"I'm trying."

"I love you too. Yes, I'd like to be your girlfriend."

I woke up sober, hungover, and terrified. I had never, have never, done anything like that in my life. We'd known each other only 3 weeks, we'd slept together about as many times, but I was smitten. I AM smitten. You sat and were patient while I had a meltdown. You trusted when I said I didn't want to take "girlfriend" or "love" back, but that I needed time to say it consistently. To let it sit.

Your patience, your continued patience, has made me so much better. Your grace, love, and acceptance has made this journey a joy.
