Lately at work, it's been busy. Well, not the best kind of busy, because I'm stuck doing repetitive work. It's testing and making sure URLs are redirecting to the right place - over and over again.

We have all this sophisticated technology - computers - and yet, in our department we haven't figured out how to automate this repetitive task?

In comes python scripting.

A version of python comes installed on every mac. You need only to pull up your OSx terminal and type in python in the prompt, and you'll pull up the python interpreter - free to enter in all the python code you want right in one prompt!

Python code is awesome! Syntactically it's easy on the eyes - no {} ; or type includes to worry about. It's whitespace sensitive, and verbose enough to explain what it is you're writing, powerful enough to do lever a lot of functionality in just a few lines of code.

Now i'm developing a script to read in files that have a list of links to read in, and make http calls with to compare with one another and flag for inconsistencies -written to an output file.

This script will cut our testing in half the time. I'll post up a few code samples when I'm done.

So this is my attempt to have a separate blog to share about my professional happenings, pursuits and opinons.

This is part of a New Years resolution to blog more, and to create a personal professional portfolio. This is it. Expect to see blog postings of projects I'm working on, new technologies I'm pursuing and learning, and finally, my philosophy on work life and culture.

At the moment, I am reading Learn Python the hardway and Eloquent Javascript.

Both of these are online reading material, and supe fun with interactive code as you read.

As of a few days, ago I started working a healthcare company as a Web Interface developer. It's certainly a change of pace from working at an TV entertainment. I feel like I have some breathing room and space to actually be creative and work on some personal projects that would benefit the organization.
