Happiness Facade

The android looked up, seeing a familiar glimpse of white hair sitting alone in a wheelchair. Her back was to him, but her appearance seemed familiar.

Is that… Is that Mikayla? he thought, tilting his head to one side slightly in curiosity. His soft black hair fell across his pale face.

Taking the hood of his black hooded jacket down, he made his way over to her. He was mindful of the fact that he could have mistaken her for another person, but it was always good to check.

”Yes, I am. Are you in need of something?” She smiled brightly. ”Not that I’d be much use, however…”

This made Mikayla feel much more helpless thank she ever had before.

”Oh goodness Max, it’s you! How long it’s been since we’ve been alone together.” Dark thoughts of Maximus’ younger brother crossed the automaton’s mind.

And, almost instantaneously, the marriage discussions begin.

Max leaned against the brick wall behind him, one hand removing his sweeping black fringe from his eyes.

"It has been a long time, hasn't it?" he mused, looking up at his female friend. "I apologise for the fact we haven't been able to be properly alone. Maxie is...an annoyance."
