I Really Don't Care

“You wouldn’t stop talking.”

“Are you saying my voice is annoying?“

“I think I spoke not completely honestly, I do use some mundane technology - just not that of this century. I do not like all these computers and gadgets. Aside from this I use what we were born with - magic,” 

“You feel free?” he asked, watching her intently. “Oh dear, that does not sound very pleasant,” 

“Right. And tell me, do you live in a modern home?“

“First time for everything, I suppose.”

“Is it?”

“Are you going to offer to take me to lunch or are we going to continue to have this pointless conversation?“

“Yes?”

“Do warlocks know the names of alcohol? You’re the third person to order in adjective this week.”

“Seriously?“ Eden sat back in shock unable to comment. 

“He should be back in a few minutes. Went down to the bank to change some money. Can I get you anything while ya wait?”

He could hear the slight racing of her heart and grabbed a glass of water.”

“He went to the bank? Who the fuck goes to the... Shit, Warren is this a legit business?“

The wolf hopped off of the couch and padded off to the bathroom. A few minutes later Mitena walked out of the room with a long shirt on. “You seemed like you wanted to talk.”

“What would have made you think that?“

“Is my presence really not foreboding enough to earn number 5?”

“My mother’s Indian. I was born in India. I’m good.”

“It’s the dark eyed pretty boy look that isn’t working in your favor.“

“Oh, I do not use mundane technology,” he said, shaking his head 

“When I tried to get back to my home and could not. It is quite a strange feeling, don’t you agree? And for you, when did you notice?”

“And what do you use?“ She smile, eyes shining curiously.

Mitena cocked her head before settling deeper in Eden’s lap.

“Not going to lie... These director sure know how to pick ‘em.“

“Only number 8?”

“I’m Indian, not hispanic.”

“Process of elimination.“

“What the fuck?” Adi glared at her and the picture, waiting for explanation before the woman moved on. “Yeah, I got hired for a thing and then low and behold I show up and can’t do shit.”

“New pretty boy walks into town and now I can’t teleport without landing on my ass like a kindergartner? Prime suspect number 8.“ Eden rolled her eyes and continued type on her phone. “Sure thing, Pablo.“

“I have no idea what any of that meant,”

“Really. You should Google it. It’s refreshing.“

“When I said come by anytime, I have to admit I wasn’t expecting the next day.”
