hands and faces and other beautiful things

i love when i wake up in the morning and the first thing i notice is that i can literally *smell* that a window is open somewhere in the house and the day is pouring in.

can’t wait to pick fresh thyme with my wife from our garden so that we can bake herbed fruit crumble pie and make out with strawberry seeds stuck in our teeth

sometimes the only thing left to do is sweep your kitchen with a handcrafted broom, feel the wood working beneath your fingers, send small words of thanks to the selfless twigs and branches that get you through each day.

the birds are singing their songs - wake up! you walk to your idyllic kitchen with a loose, wool robe draped over your shoulders, your hands eager to warm themselves around a hot mug of tea (splash of cream, as a treat). you put the kettle on the stove and then lean over your kitchen sink, staring out the window at the wildflowers in your yard. you feel at peace in your solitude, and hungry for this day.
