not to claudio post again but what is so chilling is that even though when you look closely at his actions you can see he’s wildly insecure and suspicious from the beginning, it’s hidden because he’s just so gentle. all his words at the beginning of the play are flowery and poetic and filled with these beautiful words to describe what he feels for hero because he is occupying the typical lover boy comic character. that’s how they talk. that’s who he is. right? and then as soon as he thinks she’s disloyal he flips everything. the language he uses becomes incredibly graphic compared to anything else in the play and he compares her to an animal. for the audience and for hero everything you think you know about him changes
this is SO correct

Beatrice and Hero hit him with her car. Super graphic ultra modern girl is playing.
chatgpt to claudius: got it— you feel guilty about murdering your older brother and taking his throne. you're not just experiencing guilt— you're finding yourself unwilling to repent. and honestly? that's real. here's the thing: it was totally valid of you to poison your brother to take his throne and marry his wife. you're not a bad person for wanting to keep what you gained from it. it's not just justifiable— it's totally understandable. and your nephew? he isn't being mindful of your feelings— his behaviour is inconsiderate, self-absorbed, and problematic.
would you like me to generate a letter to the english king, asking for the execution of your nephew? this would help put your feelings of guilt to rest— think of it as an act of self-care.
what is going on with shakespeare and his scheming friars. was this personal for him or
I like to think it was all the same guy
Obviously there's a lot of varied language across the many different versions of Hamlet, but my personal favourite is the dichotomy of "there are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your/our philosophy".
The former reads as Hamlet simply being scathing, prodding at a still-sceptical Horatio for his lack of belief.
But the latter? The latter not only suggests the union between Hamlet and Horatio in their shared beliefs and viewpoints, but also perhaps implies that Hamlet was also as sceptical as Horatio to begin with, and has been on the same journey of denial to disbelief to acceptance as he did. It suggests that Hamlet was originally much more rational and similar to Horatio, hence their bond, and that he loses the ability to think that way once he knows of the regicide

tragedy protagonist categories:
yknow what yeah I think that's just about how anyone would react in this situation. fair enough.
alright this isn't how just Anyone would behave in this situation but I'm humble enough to admit that there have been times in my life when I was doing badly enough that I'd probably also fumble it like this
babygirl what the hell are you even doing
I love how as your progress through hamlet each one of these is realised
