I don't know what Carolyn did (I'm honestly interested to know), but as to say, I think their [wives'] influence on Roger was... Small. At the moment, of course, he pliably indulged their requests, but his personality did not depend on anyone, as it seems to me. If Roger is a dork, that's on his conscience. If he made the right choice, that's also on his conscience. The choice of his wives was his, the choice of his attitude towards them is the result of his traumas and the absence of a father, as well as the way his mother raised him, but the MOST part, about 80%, is his factory settings. I don't want to call any of his wives a bad person, because these wives are ROGER's choice, and if he chose those who stepped on him with their heels, it means he was used to it/liked it/his personal motives. Of course, they chose him in return, but he is an adult and could say no, as he said to many women, i.e. he knows how to choose for himself, he's probably a masochist of some sort. This is his path.
