so weird to see this on my dash in 2026 like where were you guys when I was reading the vampire lestat when I was 12 and considering the layers of nuance in the text but coming away with no strong moral feelings towards it as a work because it is simply a work of fiction….but now we’re grown adults on tumblr having arguments about a shitty tv adaption of it as a piece of “queer media” and gender identity discourse like….i think we all just need to go back to reading on our own. let’s go back to square one. free read time guys.

like did we even read the same books or read into the implications off power the same way? like yeah of course parental sexual abuse is BAD like I don’t think anyone has ever said it wasn’t like I feel like we taking fictional texts far too seriously are forgetting about metaphor and layers of meaning perhaps….but what do I know.
