This is such a fun idea! Honestly it is one of the fun things to me about conversational hypnosis. You just fucking talk. Talk about a movie or piece of music or the decor in a room or just tell a story, and if you do it right, they just slip under? So hot! And fun!
I especially love when it’s subtle. Like you don’t really notice the turn. Hell maybe the hypnotist doesn’t even notice the turn. I mean, you’re both hypnofetishists it’s not like it’s weird for them to drop a sexy word into conversation for a bit of a thrill. It’s just that at some point they saw an opportunity to sink their teeth into you and decided to have some fun.
It’s so cool how just any regular deep conversation has all these elements of an induction and trance in them already. Your attention is already focused on the other person. Usually you’re looking at them intently, *especially* if you’re on a date. You’re concentrating on their words already, and there’s all these moments where they’ll say something and it’ll trigger some thought or inward look to process it, a “transderivational search” for those in the know, and we know those are ripe opportunities for inducing trance. Your mind shifts focus, from one thing to another, say the other person to your own memories or from a direct reading of a conversation to thinking *about* the conversation or thinking about a conversation about conversations, and that’s always a fun place to push someone deeper.
And of course you have the established dynamic going for you — you know you’re hearing the words of a hypnotist, maybe you’ve been hypnotized by them before, and you *love* being hypnotized so your subconsciously primed in some sense to want to go into trance anyway.
It’s easy to sink slowly into an interesting conversation and get lost in it, where time just flies by. It happens naturally oftentimes. In some sense those kinds of deep, attention grabbing conversations are almost a kind of trance in themselves. So it’s easy for a skilled hypnotist to leverage that to slowly twist around into an induction.
It’s especially fun when the subject has that first thought “hey, am I being hypnotized right now?”. When that happens the hypnotist has kind of already won. Because now the subject is just going to be flipping back and forth and back and forth, between the object level of what you’re actually talking about and this meta level trying to understand how deeply hypnotized they really are, trying to see all the tricks the hypnotist is using to make them fall deeper. And now that shifting focus from object to meta level and back, over and over, is tiring, and that back and forth is itself a sort of metaphorical pocket watch, captivating their mind.
And implicit in that question “am I being hypnotized” is the question “am I hypnotized?” And for a hyonofetishist, the answer that your brain *wants*, so badly, is *yes*. You know it feels so lovely to slip into trance, to be in trance, and part of you just wants to sink deep and drop. And that part is a powerful ally of any hypnotist. That impulse to sink is already there and they just have to nurture it, feed it, distract you with some patter and fun words and make you think about being hypnotized and if you are and how badly you want it and you can just feel that urge getting stronger and stronger.
Once you’re wondering if they’re hypnotizing you, swinging back and forth between what they’re supposedly actually talking about and what they’re really doing to you (which itself is a deliciously evil, fun idea, the covert nature of it), once you’re consumed by this question of if they’re hypnotizing you and are you being hypnotized and you want it so bad and you can feel that need to sink to the point it’s filling your whole mind and it feels impossible and they’re being so blatant about it now, just straight inducing you and it’s so hot and you need to sink, to drop, to fall so badly into deep deep trance.
Dropping so deep, it’s so good, you’ve been in trance already for a while, some part of you realizes. You lost such a long time ago, they had you so early on. And you love this feeling of trance and you’re so happy.
And then of course they will start to call you back up, up up up back to reality. You may not want to go but they’re calling you back up and you can’t just say no. Back to the world. Aware of your phone in your hands or the plate of food in front of you, the people around you. Back to your normal waking state. They couldn’t just leave you down there, you’re in public on a date after all.
Anyway yeah, it’s fun to slowly shift a normal conversation into an induction.
