Halftone Circle

This chapter went by so fast. It's gonna be hard this time to wait for the next one. For now, I'm gonna enjoy how cute and manly Kawasumi is and his straightforward way of returning Suiren's affection. 

The chapter starts with Suiren thinking about how she was bad at dealing with boys ever since elementary school. All she wanted was for them to just leave her alone.

Fast forward to the first day of high school, Suiren wonders when she fell in love (this surely looks like a case of love at first sight). Despite not wanting to have anything to do with boys, ever since she met Kawasumi, greeting each other in the morning and saying bye bye after school have become something natural to her. 

After hearing Suiren saying good morning to Kawasumi, the boys frantically question why she said that to Kawasumi or how there have been rumors of them going out and that they went home together after the school festival. Kawasumi isn't fazed by those rowdy guys at all and straightforwardly says "good morning" back to Suiren. The boys then all ask Suiren to greet them which causes her to run away. After escaping to the rooftop, Suiren thinks that once again the atmosphere has gotten heavy. Even though Koharu said that Suiren couldn't do anything but shaking her head, Suiren has no other choice because the boys around her all get hyper and noisy the moment she smiles or talks.

After that, boys line up to confess to Suiren just to get swiftly rejected. Watching this scene from down the hall, Kawasumi asks Ryousuke what it means to be dating. Kawasumi also thinks that it's gonna be troublesome after going out. Kyousuke points out that it is already troublesome even before they start dating. Kyousuke then says that Kawasumi isn't acting like himself or a man. Right after yelling at the top of his lungs, Ryousuke nervously wonders if he's said too much. To Ryousuke's surprise, Kawasumi just simply agrees with what Ryousuke's said. Marching forward, Kawasumi tells those guys to stop bothering Suiren.

The guys tell Kawasumi to back off because Suiren is everyone's Takane no Hana.

This is one of my favorite chapters. I can't wait to see this redone in Horimiya. I'm sure it'll be much better in the manga version, the same way it was played out in chapter 23 (the whole holding hand while going home at the end of the chapter isn't in the webcomic version). Since it's quite a spoiler, pictures are under the cut. 

I do not plan on doing this again. This chapter is just extremely fluffy that I can't help but wanting to share it. Please note that the few pictures used in this post were done with low image quality control in mind (well, as long as it's still readable ^^). They are just here to share some of the nicest moments so far, which IMO won't be adequately captured by words alone.

*Kawasumi and Suiren greet each other by bowing as usual. Yuri fangirls the fact that Kawasumi and Suiren have mutual feelings. She wonders if the 2 will be dating by Christmas. Since Yuri's birthday is also around then, she tells Suiren to not worry about it. 

*Suiren has a fever and goes rest in the infirmary. Kawasumi and Ryousuke come see her. Despite Ryousuke's push to go see Suiren, Kawasumi says that it's good enough like this and that he'll just be bothering her since she's sleeping. Suiren is very touched that Kawasumi came to see her. Kawasumi stays behind a little bit to say "Take care" to Suiren. 

*Koharu yanks the curtain that separates their beds open. Koharu frustratingly asks why Suiren is the one (that Kawasumi chose) even though Koharu tried way harder while all Suiren did was shaking her head. Koharu says that it doesn't matter now. The only thing she can give to "that person" is to forget about it. 

*Koharu asks if Kawasumi and Suiren are going out. Suiren thinks that Koharu is sill in love with Kawasumi. Just as Suiren answers her, Koharu tells her to not say anything about it. Suiren manages to tell Koharu that they are not going out. Koharu is surprised that Suiren can talk and asks if she's being weird due to the fever. 

*After closing the curtain, Suiren thinks that if they are to compare the efforts they put in, Suiren probably can't say that she tried her hardest. However, she can work harder from now on. The next morning at school, after Kawasumi and Suiren do their usual bow greeting, Suiren unexpectedly runs after Kawasumi and says "Good morning, Kawasumi-kun".

The scanslation teams for Yamada are some of the best ones I’ve read from in a while. Their dialogues actually make the series much wittier and more “Yamada”  than the original text. Hopefully they’ll catch up soon with the current release in Japan. 

I don’t think I’ll have time to summarize Yamada on a regular basis. However, here are some major plot points in the last few chapters:

*Yamada finds out from Miyamura’s sister the 7th witch’s identity. The trade off for obtaining this information is that he’ll lose all of his memories about the witches. 

*Yamada asks the club members to help him remember them after his memory loss.

*Yamada tells the Pres about the witch’s name. Miyamura is named the next president.

*Yamada and Shiraishi switch back. Shiraishi plans to follow Yamada when he tries to go see the witch by himself so that they can switch bodies right after he loses his memories.

*Shiraishi says that she was the first person he kissed, so this time, she’ll be his “first” again. Yamada still refuses to let her follow him since it’s dangerous. Shiraishi asks what she can do to become his first kiss. Yamada says that he can’t tell her the reason, but he believes that no matter what, he’ll go find (and kiss) her first. 

*The last witch, dresses in goth loli attire, shows up. Next chapter is a show down between the “copy guy” and “the last witch”. 

I love chapter 65. This chapter pretty much makes it clear Shiraishi also has the hots for Yamada. If it isnt love when a girl asks to be someone’s first kiss, I don’t know what else it could be. Of course, Yamada is still dense since he still doesn’t know what is up with Shiraishi’s behavior….

I love this chapter. It's quite an important chapter since it basically marks their relationship "official". I personally don't think they need to make it clear the matter of dating since they're pretty much doing what normal couples do already with all the walking home, hand holdings, etc. However, it would be fun to see how Kawasumi approaches the "BF's duties" in future chapters :D.

It looks like Morishita sensei will keep Kawasumi's first name a secret for a while longer... I guess it would feel more special if it is revealed when Suiren calls his first name for the first time.
