     She PAUSES – turns to look over her shoulder, a pinched expression on her face. “I’m going the wrong way, aren’t I?”

                                       EARTH was not half as exciting as he would have expected it to be. the liquor wasn’t very strong and the people have not yet gotten used to aliens, not even after all the battles they had to fight. after all the encounters they had with outer space, he could still feel eyes on him wherever he walked. usually, he was alone but it seemed he had found himself a companion. a woman not afraid of the man that was considered an alien here. he finished yet another drink before glancing around and taking a close look at all the men who were staring but pretending not to be.

                               ❛   mmm   …   this is no respectable establishment.   ❜

no matter how many things diana has seen, it seemed like the universe had a lot more up its sleeve. aliens. to her, it was still something strange but nothing she couldn’t get used to quite quickly. she had dealt with the god of war, himself, so perhaps she should keep an open mind. or at least more widely open. when she decided to keep the man --- alien? --- company, diana showed no sigh of being uncomfortable or feeling like she was a fish out of water. the man was perhaps more like her than any human around her. 

❝ hm. ❞  diana began, pressing her lips in thought. ❝ yes, i noticed that as well. it has a strange sense of the calm before the storm, doesn’t it? ❞ words that had escaped her without the woman having the opportunity to actually think about them. it was how she felt, after all.  ❝ i’m probably just imagining it, aren’t i? do you come here often? ❞ 

alright so his invitation had not been a completely honest one but it had worked hadn’t it ? there was a knock on his door && he had her attention which was merely step number one. the next step was trying not to come off as a complete stalker when he asked for her help. not with outstanding relics he was swore to protect here but rather from wonder woman. this definitely wouldn’t be very easy, all he could hope was he wouldn’t completely scare her off in the process. he quickly focused && stepped up to the door opening it while stepping back to allow her entrance.  “ afternoon ms. prince. “ he offered quickly. “ come in. “ once she had done so he closed the door fingers ideally ensuring that his suit jacket was done up. he hadn’t worn one of these in a very long time. he had felt it would be the best attire for a first meeting with a woman who expected to meet an art lover rather then a master of the mystic arts. “ i’m so glad you could make it, as you can see there is already plenty here && this is only room number one. “ he chuckled.

after looking at old paintings, relics and statues, diana thought a whole different type of objects to look at seemed like a good idea. of course, she had only said so to her boss when the curator actually asked for it --- despite the amazon knowing more than she led on, she still showed a lot of knowledge about topics here and there. 

she was thousands of years old and up until she entered the world of men, all she did was train to be an amazon and read books on every topic in existence; or at least, ninety nine percent of them. diana was sure more books had been written about something she had little knowledge about. 

knocking on the door, she ran her hands down her outfit, eliminating any crevices on her work dress; it was a beautiful piece in dark green, but diana would always prefer the armour she used back in themyscira ❝ afternoon. doctor strange, was it? it’s an interesting surname. ❞ diana commented with a polite smile, good intentions lacing her words.  ❝ thank you. ❞ she spoke, nodding her head as the doctor invited her in. 

❝ i'm quite glad i could make it, as well. when my boss told me about what i was meant to see, i was quite excited to see what you had in store for us. it’s not every day we got a call like yours, after all. ❞

diana couldn’t help but let a small smile appear on her lips, though she tried her best not to laugh a little at what peter had said to her.  ❝ i have kicked a lot of men’s ass and none told me they felt less of a man. i didn’t even hit them in their private parts. ❞ diana was joking of course, a twinkle of deviousness in her eyes. ❝ and that is your only rule? what about using my lasso? ❞

stubborn. diana supposed she could be stubborn, but only she believed she had to be; when the amazon knew what was right and what was wrong, when she wanted to protect those she cared for, when she knew the discussion put more lives at risk than saved — among many, many other reasons. 

that particular time, in the particular conversation, the word stubborn had never sounded so accurate. yes, diana was being stubborn but only because the woman before her seemed to have a death wish; and if she didn’t, then she ought to revise that plan of hers. 

❝ i’m only being stubborn because you refuse to understand just how dangerous that plan is. ❞ diana spoke, worry lacing every word that left her mouth. ❝ i cannot let you go on a mission that will only end in certain death. ❞
