The boys came up to me to get that sweet sweet other side of the fence grass, and then we were hanging out a bit.

European goldfinch, spotted woodpecker, common blackbird, blue tit, eurasian nuthatch, all within 40 seconds on my windowsill.

If you don't have any cows close by, you can check whether there are any animal sanctuaries near you. Some of those have visiting days you might be able to sign up for, especially if you're a donor. Sanctuary animals are often more friendly because they have had good experiences with humans.
