I’m not a fan of routine. I can’t even wear the same hairstyle for more than 24 hours so a hair regimen was something I struggled with...for years. I was never consistent with products and I wasn’t always the best at giving my hair the TLC it deserved. Needless to say, my strands began to suffer. I felt like I was at constant war with what I wanted my hair to be and what it actually was. 

As years of wearing my hair in its natural state went on, I started eliminating things that weren’t working and narrowed my products down to the basics. After that, I began a wash ritual, if you will. Shortly after this became a constant, I saw a dramatic transformation in my hair. Not only are my curls manageable, soft, and detangled but they’re healthy! And healthy hair equals hair growth. 

For girls like me who are constantly rebelling against the system, don’t fight your hair. Develop a hair regimen that works not only for your hair but for your lifestyle. Schedule out enough time in your busy life to truly tend to your tresses and use what works. I know it’s easy for us to get caught up in all the fun, shiny products that promise to moisturize, volumize, and de-frizzify but when it comes to washing and maintaining your hair; find a few basic products that work best for you and stick to them.
