Seeing the happy expression made Peter happy too, glad to see that they were okay. He carefully lifts him up, holding him as he stands up. “I’m happy to be here too, Groot. I can never leave you alone, alright? You always have me, buddy. I promise.” He isn’t going anywhere, that’s for sure as he looks at them. “I’m not sure actually, but it looks like everything is back to normal now. You hungry?”

Peter wanted to check up on his friends before anything else, and the first that comes to mind was Groot. He started going through the halls to find him right after waking up, still in his uniform since he must have fallen asleep with it on. Which wasn’t a big deal, he normally did that regardless. He turns down an empty hallway, hearing a familiar voice. “Groot? I’m here buddy, I’m right here.” He insists as he runs over to him, stopping to bend down and greet his friend, feeling a sense of relief.

as quill stepped closer, the boy grinned widely. now he knows, that at least quill was safe. he rushed over to him and jumped on whatever part of them he could reach. “i am groot (i’m so happy you’re here)!” a thought flashed through his mind. the whole situation was strange in itself, no matter how much strange things he’s already encountered so far in the seventies. “i am groot (what happened)?” the boy asked.

after all of that’s happened, groot felt the need to cheer everyone up. especially those closest to him. crawling on the back of the sofa as carefully as he could, he began to think of things he could do to cheer gabby up. maybe she’d like to go out and get some food. or maybe watch one of those funny shows on the television. either way, groot wasn’t gonna leave until she was happy. as he reached the top, he huffed and called out to the girl. “i am groot!”

the boy felt a little apprehensive, walking through the mansion. it felt like moments ago when he was in a cell, holding onto quill and more scared than he’s ever felt before. now everything was quiet and still. he saw a few people as he continued his walk, but they were the ones he didn’t know quite well. his mind kept telling him to look for the other guardians, but a part of him felt that maybe they wouldn’t be here. groot finally decides that it’s worth a try. frowning, he called out on the currently empty hallway. “i am groot! (hello? anyone?)”

the boy could tell the other was in some sort of discomfort, it became clear which once the creature covered his ears. peter frowned, offering his hand out to the other as he remained crouched down. “i’m peter.” he replied, a smile soon followed though it was entangled with concern. “did you hurt yourself there?”

“Good question. You’re just filled with them today, bravo!” Scott cheered, boisterously laughing as he rubbed his clean shaven chin. A new look he was sporting that was a vast contrast to his normally bearded visage. “I believe to be a fun person, you must become your most authentic self. That, my young friend, is when the fun happens. No matter what you do in life, if you just be yourself—great things are bound to occur.”

the boy shook his head fervently, as he gets back up after tripping on the floor. “i am groot (not you)!” groot argues. “i am groot (but someone did)!” he pointed at the weird contraption by the wall, which somehow tripped him as he walked along the hall. “i am groot (maybe you know something)!”

the boy sat, sipping at his soda as he listened to the other. he nodded. “i am groot (i see)..” groot was still young, so he doesn’t quite relate to the other with having a ‘ crazy ‘ past. he couldn’t help but think if he’d be like that, too, if he grows up. “i am groot (will i be like that, too)?” he asked, curious.

after a long night shift, peter collapsed onto the chaise lounge, still in uniform when he heard the wail from the amp, jumping to his feet immediately in an act of shock and confusion. “wha — who’s there?!” he exclaimed, then spotted the small humanoid toppled over and dropped down for closer inspection. “uh, hey there lil buddy, need any help?”

drax  frowns  at  the  tree’s  question  ,  unsure  if  the  past  that  he  remembers  is  the  past  that  groot  remembers  .   he’s  sure  there  must  be  some  sort  of  skip  in  time  between  the  two  ,  but  for  the  little  ones  sake  he  doesn’t  voice  it  .  instead  ,  he  picks  him  up  and  places  him  upon  his  shoulder  ,  shaking  his  head  .   “  there  is  nothing  wrong  ,  ”  he  answers  ,  heading  towards  the  kitchen  .  “  i  like  you  like  this  more  ,  anyway  ,  ”  he  grins  to  himself  ,  a  little  happy  to  have  a  groot  who  loved  him  instead  of  a  groot  who  hated  him  for  telling  him  to  put  his  game  away  .  “  where  are  we  ,  groot ?  why  have  we  landed  on  terra  ?  i  was  in  titan  with  quill  just  a  moment  ago  .  ” 

gabby smiled down at him “oh you want to go up? sure.” she slowly and carefully placed her hand right in front of him so he could climb it “are you enjoying your time here? i mean besides everything.” she chuckled and gave the small one a questioning look.

he climbed on her hand, happy she was okay with it. groot looked at her and nodded. “i am groot (it looks like a great place).” he shrugged. “i am groot (peter always talked about terra, so)..”

PETER WATCHES while Groot is punching the air enthusiastically. He can see just how excited he was, and he will admit that it’s cute. Even though he knows that Groot could handle himself in a fight, there was no doubt, but he was so small. “It sounds like you had a lot of fun. It’s a shame I missed it. Food huh? What’d you eat?”
