So...
Guys, I don’t know how it happened, but I’m here at the Obie Awards tonight, and basically, I’m having appetizers and talking with Leslie Odom, Jr. at this moment…
Look around, look around, how lucky you are to be alive right now.
What she says: I’m fine
What she means: Why does Angelica get so worked up about a comma? And why do we all go along with it. We have seen Hamilton’s letters to Laurens. He is not subtle. A comma does not mean anything, if he loved her he would tell her. Alexander Hamilton was blunt and up front, and he would never express his feelings with a comma.
Yeahhhh, no. I don’t blame you for thinking this, because the musical can’t tell the whole story of that comma in two lines in one song, so here it is:
In real life, Angelica wrote a letter to Hamilton in which she wrote, “Indeed, my dear, Sir…”
Innocent enough, if you ignore the context.*
Then, in response, Hamilton writes this [emphasis HIS]:
You ladies despise the pedantry of punctuation. There was a most critical comma in your last letter. It is my interest that it should have been designed; but I presume it was accidental. Unriddle this if you can. The proof that you do it rightly may be given by the omission or repetition of the same mistake in your next.
Then he signed the letter, “Adieu ma chere, soeur” (Farewell my dear, sister).
Let’s review:
Angelica writes a letter to Hamilton in which she perhaps accidentally writes “my dear, Sir” instead of “my dear Sir,” which leads one to read “dear” as a noun (my dear) rather than an adjective for Sir, making it much more intimate.
Hamilton writes back and says, basically, “In a letter I received from you two weeks ago I noticed a comma in the middle of a phrase. It changed the meaning. Did you intend this? One stroke and you’ve consumed my waking days.”
Then asks her to repeat the same “mistake” in her next letter if she did, indeed, intend it.
He ends the letter by making that “mistake,” calling her “my dear.”
He knew exactly what he was doing, and with the context it’s about as subtle as writing, “i like u do u like me check one [ ] yes [ ] no.”
And if you don’t know, now you know.
*The context being, “I know you’re upset that I didn’t write you back, but have you considered that I was totally playing hard to get so you would write me another letter in which you flatter me to death? It totally worked, btw.”
Odds of winning a ‘Hamilton’ ticket are bleak, but not as bad as you think (Mashable):
Across social media, we joke, cry, complain and sometimes rage about the futility of winning a ticket, but when you look at the numbers, it could be a lot worse.
In plain terms: you should finish that best seller you’ve been working on. However, you can probably relax around vending machines.
If you’re really looking forward to being a game show contestant or writing a great American novel, you should be trying to do that just as much as you’re trying to win a chance to see Hamilton — and the odds, mathematically at least, say you’ll succeed as one of these things.
Or, if you ever hear someone say, “you’re more likely to be struck by lightning that winning a ticket to Hamilton,” you now have clear evidence that that is decidedly not true.
throw your name in the game here!
already won the hamilton lottery... so that makes my next goal to win an oscar. yeah, that seems likely
Someone needs to make a version of Just Dance with just Hamilton songs
but would it come with a turntable? you know, so we can assemble it in our living room and truly learn the choreography
what she says: im fine
what she means: in stay alive (reprise) the drum beats represent philip’s heartbeat - when the drum beat ends, so does his life. also, when he says “mom, i’m so sorry for forgetting what you taught me” it was counting - eliza had taught him to count. he thought he’d forgotten to count, and that that’s why george shot him on the count of 7 - he thought it was his fault and that he had counted wrong. also, while we’re on the fact that george shot philip on the count of ‘7′, let’s mention that philip died while he was on the count of seven, when he was reciting french on his deathbed. philip hamilton did not deserve to die.

I’ll reblog an updated Master Post every time a new thingy is added.
can I just have a second to rant here?
Upon seeing this post, I way overjoyed to see that clipping. was having another concert in Boston, because the last time they had a concert here was in like 2014. I click on the link to discover I can get tickets… for $2,500. Seriously, Daveed? you’re gonna show up in Boston to play one show that only extremely wealthy people are able to see? thats unfortunate. guess ill have to wait another few years until this opportunity appears again.
Ok, saw this comment so I want to take second second to clarify a few things.
1. This is a Master Post of live appearances/shows that Daveed is doing. It is not restricted to Clipping alone. Which is why if you’ll look above, you’ll see who is performing is listed in italics.
2. The new date listed in Boston is A. not a Clipping show & B. is a gala. The word “gala” alone (let alone “institute”) should immediately set off the “shit, mega-money!” bells. Hence the “sponsorship only” link. Hell, they’re associated with the Senate. So yeah. The EMK Gala is not meant for the public.
I apologize, it seems that you misinterpreted what I'm saying. I never said that the gala should be open to the public, and by a clipping. show I meant the fact that Daveed would be performing songs that he has written under the name of clipping. And I know how to read, thank you very much.
Me 40 years from now tbh

Hamilton on July 29, 2016
Cast: Javier Muñoz (Hamilton), Lexi Lawson (Eliza), Sydney James Harcourt (Burr), Elizabeth Judd (Angelica), Christopher Jackson (Washington), Andrew Chappelle (Lafayette/Jefferson), Okieriete Onaodowan (Mulligan/Madison), Anthony Ramos (Laurens/Philip), Alysha Deslorieux (Peggy/Maria), Rory O'Malley (King George), Gregory Haney (Philip Schuyler/James Reynolds/Doctor), Roddy Kennedy (Samuel Seabury), Charles Lee (Neil Haskell), Ephraim Sykes (George Eacker)
I had the honor to be a part of the Ham4Pamphlet project, a fan made artbook illustrating all 46 tracks of the Hamilton Musical. I illustrated track 2: Aaron Burr, Sir–since the track states it takes place in “1776, New York City”, and historically there was a great fire that same year, I thought it appropriate to make the backdrop a city in flames (like my heart, each time I listen).
You can read about the project and see more of the artwork here: [[Ham4Pamphlet project]]
Thanks Arielle for including me, and congratulations to all the artists on some stunning fan art!
