Of Fire and Blood

“Of course I do,” Sam nodded, getting in behind the weel. It felt good to be on the road again and even better that Henri now was here, “Just stay around long enough and you’ll see him again soon.”

“Sure you are,” Sam winked, “Come on,” he left the cabin he had been staying at and packed their things into the trunk of the Impala, “I’ll let you drive later, okay? I’m the cool brother remember?” he reminded her.

    ‘    —    every woman i met is strong ;   that doesn’t exactly narrow it down .  ’

          As Gabriel wrapped an arm around her—loosely at first, then tightening as the reality of what she’d said set in—he tried (he really tried) to keep his mouth shut and just be comforting. He failed, of course, but he did try.   “A week left?  That’s not enough time, what’s— I mean how did they not—”  He paused, eyes squeezed shut and fingers pinching the bridge of his nose.  

          Gabriel exhaled, opened his eyes, and was calm.  One of them deserved to freak out as much as they wanted, and it wasn’t him.   “What do you need from me?  Anything in the world, just name it and it’s yours.”

      ‘  that’s a fair point …  no, i do .  i’m just not sure if i have a type . ’

“I always thought Samuel would be the one to finally cave and ask, but I how can I say no to that?” And Rowena was sympathetic, for all it may not have come off as sincere if someone didn’t look for it or thought they knew her. “I’ll expect you to be discreet about it, of course.”

“Woah, wait what?”

Quentin blinked. Kids? Him? Her? He tried to laugh it off but he knew she was an emotional mess. Suddenly his own panic crept up in his throat. He managed to squeak out:

“You can always adopt. Not everyone has kids.”
