Game Changer, the first book in the series, started out as a Stucky fanfic. Stucky being Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes in Captain America and Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fandom.
Steve was the closeted, polite hockey captain (Scott), Bucky was the barista (Kip), Natasha Romanov/Black Widow was the baristaās all-knowing best friend (Elena). Of course, Reid had to file the serial numbers off before she could publish it professionally. But the main characters were immediately recognizable to me when I first heard that a book of Reidās had originally been stucky fanfic.
