A Saturday on the water yielded sightings of seals, eagles and more.
Good weekend for finding some great music at the local library sale and thrift store. Completed my Dumptruck acquisition spree in one fell swoop, grabbed Tiny Victories "Those of Us Still Alive" on CD and Jimmy Buffett's "Floridays" on cassette.
Words and tunes
Satisfying day of adding to the stacks of wax -- and the bookshelf -- at Moore Familie Compound thanks to a healthy mix of thrift and record stores and a couple of online marketplaces.
Definitely more than meets the eye.

"And when Alexander saw the breadth of his domain, he wept, for there were no more worlds to conquer. The benefits of a classical education." -- Hans Gruber ("Die Hard")
Added to the stax of wax this weekend. 1980s new wave, Alabama power pop, an underrated soundtrack and a band I'd heard of yet never listened to before (hello, Woodentops!).
Some comics reading lined up for the coming. Love a good Marvel omnibus edition.
After spending a few hours at the museum, we traversed a few blocks to the Second District Brewery over on Bancroft Street to check it out. As we sat at the bar, the music started up and it was Circle Jerks' "Coup D'Etat." My kind of joint.
Saw some fun stuff during today's foray to the thrift shop. Ended up grabbing the Sinbad soundtrack and it was just as I remembered hearing while watching the film way back in the 1970s.

A quartet of books from my junior and high school days. Eager to reread them decades later after the first time.
Dig vinyl. It's my first love, yet when CDs became available, I added the format to my library.
Still have my first two CDs -- 10,000 Maniacs' "In My Tribe" and Midnight Oil's "Diesel and Dust" -- and they sound as vibrant today as the day I got them.
Those who have been to Moore Familie Compound, no matter where it was, is or will be, know there's an expansive library of compact discs.
It's why there's a carousel player in the living room and a high-end single-disc player in the family room.
As of today, there's a high-end single-disc Denon DCD-1500 in the living room.
Found it at the 2nd Avenue thrift store in northeast Philly. When it was released back in the mid-80s, it was $650. Saw it on the shelf, ran it through some checks and popped a disc in. Everything worked. Even had the original remote.
Got it home, cleaned it inside and out (the laser, too). The sound is ... incredible.
Traveling to a dimension not of only sight, but mostly sound, thanks to the soundtrack to 1983's "Twilight Zone: The Movie."
The Indiana Jones collection. What's not on this shelf is the entirety of the Indiana Jones RPGs by TSR and West End Games.
It's nine degrees, the wind's howling, but the dogs are warm and the Portuguese fish soup is filling.

Bitterly cold Sunday morning but the Philadelphia Art Museum is warm and inviting and a bit surreal.
A brief respite from the day's events. Added some vintage vinyl to the stacks of wax at Moore Familie Compound, diving back into the early 1980s for some original punk and post-punk and pop-inspired outings from Philly's the Hooters, North Carolina's X-Teens, Kansas' Micronotz (Lawrence represent!), Albany, New York's Fear of Strangers, Iowa City, Iowa's Full Fathom Five and a promising LA outfit called Bangles. Also scored EVERY SINGLE FLEXIDISC published in Trouser Press magazine. Literal manna from music heaven.
Of note, the LPs by X-Teens and Full Fathom Five were still sealed. Think about that. Albums that were packaged and sent to record stores in 1982 (X-Teens) and 1987 (Full Fathom Five) remained so until they came into my hands. There is nothing like the sound of virgin vinyl on the turntable.
