Today’s character of the day is: Tummi Gummi from Adventures of the Gummi BearsÂ
Once Again the Crimson Avenger and A Recipe For Trouble have the gummies so out of character and ruin some of the consistency the show has.
For one, Once Again the Crimson Avenger has them all laughing at Cubbi in situations where he could have been hurt then Grammi acting like it never happened. They never even apologize. And Milton is so forgettable, his only role is to fawn over Cubbi and never be seen again. He was introduced at random and what is the point of adding a new human character? The most interesting thing about the show is the gummi bears. The villain isn't even interesting. The concept of Cubbi using The Crimson Avenger as an outlet for the pressures of growing up, and being the youngest cub and such is a solid, interesting concept but not if you're going to have to write everyone else out of character to do it. It just makes me feel mad at the older bears (Especially Gruffi. He chastised Grammi and Sunni for laughing at Cubbi (which was somewhat out of character, but I welcome the opportunity to see a softer side of Gruffi) and then laughs at him himself). If they were going to add in a new villain then it should have been an interesting one, that could recur and be specifically The Crimson Avenger's nemesis. Not a petty thieving Frenchman and his twin goons.
Secondly A Recipe For Trouble revolves around Grammi's 'bad' cooking. Yes she makes bad dishes, but there are PLENTY of instances of even Gruffi enjoying what she cooks. She obviously knows how to do it, so almost everything in that episode (especially the part where her soup makes a hole in the table- this is gummi bears not loony tunes) totally unrealistic for her abilities. The sweetroll stuck so bad she couldn't get it out of the pan and i just don't buy that she's incapable of baking THAT bad. It makes no sense- either she can cook or she can't. If he cooking is truly that terrible would it not make sense for one of the Gummies to take on that job over her? Maybe one who has a passion for food? Like maybe...Tummi? If her cooking were truly that awful you can't tell me that Tummi would not be taking charge of that job. No, shes capable if making tasty and edible food. The issue is her finding bad recipes or making her own and thinking they're better than they really are. Not to mention, I feel like Gruffi and Zummi should have switched lines.
On top of all that, the cuts, dialogue and pacing were all just weird and not great. They both truly feel like the writers were rushed and had to go with the first draft of those episodes. But it still is just a disappointment. An episode surrounding Grammi's expirements with food WITHOUT being criticized by her family to tears could have been interesting. Perhaps it could instead have been her learning how to make good recipes, having a series of them not work out and slowly earn the title of Chef instead of just Cook. Perhaps there could have been a cooking competition going on in Dunwyn and Calla, Cavin, or even Trina (she can meet her early this episode) entering her food for her, there being a cool prize she wants to motivate her. Or, her bringing out some dishes and Zummi using a new spell to make it taste good and there be conflict arise from there. Just something besides Zummi telling her to give up and her food being used to fend off a giant slug.
Once Again the Crimson Avenger and A Recipe For Trouble have the gummies so out of character and ruin some of the consistency the show has.

Today’s character of the day is: Gruffi Gummi from Adventures of the Gummi Bears
I really don't like the fact that the new DuckTales had the Gummi Bears reference/Gummiberry juice. I wouldn't mind a cameo, but the fact that the juice played an actual part in the episode it's in has implications about the bears that just makes me sad.
Posting OC’s always makes me nervous but I made some for Gummi Bears, this one is Cherri.Â
I'm considering posting one of my OCs. If I do, I will post it on @merkerler (my art/stuff in general blog) and reblog it to this this one.
Since it's shown that Gruffi despises being reminded of him as a cub, (throwing out baby things, Nogum mentioning that the last time he saw him was when he bounced him on his knee) I headcanon that when any of the kids ask, Grammi and Zummi will tell them what Gruffi was like as a cub, revealing that he was super bubbly, ticklish, and followed Zummi around all the time because he was his favorite gummi in the glen. He hates them immensely for it.
Aww 🥺 that is adorable, I love that head canon. To top it off, Zummi is definitely the oldest of the 3 adults, and Gruffi is the youngest (Cuz Zummi and Grammi were playmates when they were cubs, back when Nogum still came around regularly and when Nogum was around he was a wee babe, as he described it.) So smol Gruffi following older Zummi around is such a cute idea. Maybe they called Gruffi his little shadow.
Hopefully he can stand some teasing cuz I can see Sunni and Cubbi doing so when they're first told about it.

Everyone: Grammi is such a bad cook ugh icky
Also everyone: *steals lollipops Grammi made* *steals pancakes Grammi made off someone else's plate* *drools over cake Grammi made* *stuffs themselves at holidays with food Grammi cooked* *complains when Grammi doesn't cook* *drinks Gummiberry juice Grammi cooked* *follows recipes Grammi teaches them* *asks Grammi to cook specific dishes for them*
She's a bad chef. Recipes she makes herself are generally bad. She expirements. But she cooks just fine.
My ‘The Adventures of the Gummi Bears’ head canons
1.) Gruffi is either Grammi’s younger brother, or the older brother of her own child’s spouse. (Meaning Grammi had a kid when she was probably about Gusto’s age and Gruffi’s parent’s had another kid when he was much older. If he isn’t simply her brother.)
2.) Tummi is mildly autistic (or neurodivergent in some way) and his special interests are boats/sailing and food/cooking/gardening. He was left on the doorstep of Gummi Glen by a troop of Gummi’s passing through the forest because they didn’t have the ability to care for him properly.
3.) Grammi had at least one kid. Unfortunately something bad ended up happening to her and a handful of other gummi’s from the glen, leaving the kid’s daughter (Sunni) orphaned and adopted by her other surviving family
4.) Cubbi was a baby Grammi brought home one day out of the blue. It was the one time Grammi brought home a random baby from the forest Gruffi didn’t protest keeping. (she used to have a habit of bringing babies from the forest home she thought were abandoned.)
5.) Gusto was part of a small clan on a different part of the ocean that wasn’t near Gummi Glen. The reason he didn’t go back home after getting off the island was because the boat was destroyed when Gruffi and Tummi got back home too. Plus it was small enough, he might have assumed that after 12 years they were all gone.Â
6.) Sunni looks eerily similar to her mother
Me: Grammi isn’t even a bad cook, she just makes bad recipes. There have been plenty of times where even Gruffi was eating her food and even stuffed himself without complaint. Tummi actively enjoys her food. Tummi and Cubbi have both tried to steal things she’s made. It’s just when she makes something like broccoli muffins that gives her a bad rep.Â
A Recipe For Trouble: So that is a massive lie
Me, trying to figure out who Sunni, Cubbi, and Tummi's parents are/how they ended up at Gummi Glen while simultaneously headcanonning that Gruffi and Grammi's dynamic doesn't come from being an 'old married couple', but rather either being siblings or were raised in sibling roles be like:
