ASdjakLDA I really could not answer that. Your guess is as good as mine. I had the main beats of TA in mind before I even knew what kind of story was going to get it there. It was always going to end with 2D going to India in some capacity, and it was always going to begin with the death of a parent (which would then lead to reflections on love, grief, etc)...I decided that in 2017. It's wild how it lined up though! All condolences to Jamon though. It's difficult to describe what losing a parent feels like, but I'm happy they were able to process their experience through their art. They made a great album out of it, too.

Yes, lol. The story line contradicting what Damon was saying was the funniest things about P5. Did it also make it even more confusing for what was a very polarized fan community at the time, making the discourse and overall fan experience even more fraught? Yes, lol. But it also helped a lot of us realized how little communication there must be between the different parts of the project (Damon, Jamie, Ed, the label, marketing staff, etc.) Ultimately, I don't think Damon cares that much, hence his lack of knowledge about what's going on with them. I'm not sure he has a lot to do with the fictional character side of things in general 🤔

Tl;dr final verdict - I'm assuming it's fake since I haven't seen any screenshots, or a story mixed with pieces of truth after years of being passed down from generation of fan to generation of fan. I'm open to counter arguments though.

Hello! Sorry for the late reply and ty for the ask. I've written a couple non-Gorillaz fics in my hiatus, actually, but it's definitely been more infrequent than when I was writing TA. I do plan to return to finishing up my Gorillaz WIPs though as they're still very special to me. It's just so difficult to find the time.

Also, just noticed that The Answer passed 100k views on ao3. Not big in the grand scheme of things, but bigger than I would have anticipated if you asked me when I first started publishing it. Thanks everyone! <3

I enjoyed the video, but I understand your perspective, anon. In fact, your ask prompted me to consider some new perspectives. For one, I'm realizing that I spent a lot of the video focused on Murdoc's growth, and not so much about the overall band dynamic. Taking that into consideration, you make a good point - not much has changed with regard to his individual relationships with the rest of the band. He's still not on the best terms with Noodle and Russel, and 2D is his closest relationship. He also seems like less of a leader, but I'm not sure there's enough information to determine whether this was a band decision or just the dynamic of this particular journey. Personally, I don't see them deliberately excluding him as much as he's keeping a distance as a result of his personal feelings - apprehension, hesitancy etc. I still see the growth, but it still seems centered on Murdoc, and Murdoc and 2D. It does make me wonder if it will ever expand Russel and Noodle 🤔
