I've been thinking about making this post for ages so I thought I'd finally give it to you all
this post is absolutely a disorganized mess but I think that's on theme
once you get her started talking about something, good luck getting her to stop, you will be there for the next hour and a half hearing about whatever she's interested in
plus she has a few interests that she considers "acceptable" to talk about with others that fit her persona, ie. European history, card games, ect. so if any of those things come up in conversation she often ends up accidentally interrupting other people to talk about them
I also think she's very awkward in group conversations especially. In a good few of her V3 bounus mode and DRS events, it seems like she's seen as this weirdo who will come up to you and talk to you about things she's interested in or try to get you to play card games with her. I think she's not very good at group conversations so she tries to interact with people one on one but she's still very awkward about it.
literally in the game, she just stops to fully describe what a zero-sum game is when literally no one asked and no one pays any attention or cares that is peak undiagnosed adhd experience
so much rejection sensitivity good lord, literally you cannot invite her to any kind of game night (I personally think her talent only applies if money or something of value is on the line as a bet) because she will take it way, way, to seriously and if she loses she gets really upset
she also definitely over analyzes every social interaction she has with anyone the moment she's alone and will convince herself that everyone hates her
she stims a lot, she literally has a sprite where she's playing with her hair, bit I think she also likes to play with the frills on her clothes
I know some people think it's just bad writing, but her entire murder plot and trial scream lack of follow through to me
also I think she daydreams a lot, literally if you lose her attention for even a minute she is gone
she absolutely hates that she has no object permanence because she's torn between wanting to remember that things she has exist, and wanting to put everything away so her dorm looks nicer (even though her room is usually a mess anyway, but it's organized chaos, it's a mess, but she can tell you exactly where things are)
she has literally never paid attention in class in her life, she's the kid sitting in the back staring out the window daydreaming the whole time

Headcanons
- Provoking her into attacking them. Not only would she get beat up but also get detention and blamed because she started it.
- Made fun of her looks. I am also a freckle taeko headcanoner. So they definitely called her dirty for having them.
- If Taeko revealed she liked French/German history made fun of her for that.
- Rumors. Tons of rumors. Some somewhat in the realms of reality but also geniunely insane ones that are just so she gets mad.
- Trashing her food. I definitely headcanon Taeko to have been food insecure. So I think that Taeko probably hid often and probably ate her food in the toilets. And given the water face line that might have been dangerous.
-Maybe this is too dark but forcing her to eat her trashed food, straight trash or even insects.
- Pushing her into things and tripping her.
- Just laughing everytime she spoke.
- Never wanting her on their team in gym. And if she was then booing. After they lost blaming it all on her because she's a "born loser".
- Since yasuhiro is cheap. Forcing her to accept small amounts of money to do humiliating things.
- Spat on.
- Pretending to be her friend or asking her out.
- The opposite pretending she doesn't exist. Ignoring everything she says and taking her stuff again.
- Teachers always took her bullies sides and joined in.
- Put her in the trash or tied her up somewhere and left her there and forgot.
- Yelling at her when she was daydreaming. Or just any way of aggressively breaking her from her daydream. And laughing when she startles.
- Revealing her sh scars. Making fun of them. Asking her to do it in front of them.
- I don't know what a pc way of saying this is but "Chinese burning" her sh scars.

I can definitely see her being provoked into fights. she reacts very strongly and I think kids thought it was funny
I am also a freckle Taeko headcanoner. it’s just so good. Although I feel like the teasing about her appearance would extend beyond just that and I have more thoughts on that but I am to shy to share since it feels silly and for some reason I think making characters insecure about their looks is too weird when I do it. But anyway, yeah, I can definitely see kids telling her that they look dirty. Honestly I can also see kids telling her that they're there because her face is dirty and gross and her trying really hard to scrub them off or somthing
rumors I think definitely also. I think she spends a lot of time worrying about what rumors about her might be going around at Hope's Peak because of it
and I would agree about her being food insecure. it just makes a lot of sense, especially with her parents not having the money to feed her properly or just not caring. I think they'd also maybe like offer her food and then snatch it away at the last minute and then make fun of her for it and call her childish for being excited about getting food, especially if it's sweets or some kind of snack
and i wouldn’t say it would be too dark, i'm basically never the one to mind people going dark and i can see kids doing that, especially when they’re young since they kind of don't understand the gravity of it
pushing her into stuff definitely. I think she's already naturally kind of accident prone and very embarrassed of it so they’d probably trip her and then laugh at her for being clumsy. I think she'd have at least a few scars from stuff like that too
laughing whenever she spoke is just sad but i would believe it. I think that if she said something at Hope's Peak and someone laughed, even if that wasn’t to make fun of her, she'd probably actually break.
also it reminds me i did have a brief idea of Kyoko asking Celeste out and Celeste just responding like “who put you up to this?” I think it takes her while to realize that Kyoko does genuinely want to spend time with her
I think kids would definitely do the thing to her where they just pretend she doesn’t exist. just ignoring everything she says, pretending her desk is empty, taking her stuff because “no one's claiming it”
I can see her getting locked in a closet or a classroom or something and just forgotten about. or purposely left there
the stuff with her scars too, kids are just assholes about that sometimes for some reason. it’s maybe too dark but i think they would ask her if she was going to run off and do it when she would get upset. and messing with her scars as well.
thank you for humoring me anon really. tbh like half the reason i think about these details is that i feel like when she eventually does tell Kyoko she used to get bullied, Kyoko is curious and (lovingly) tactless enough that she would ask about details
I'll throw my hat in the ring of taeko bullying headcanons.
Infodumping and can't tell when other people aren't interestted. Also I headcanon her to have been pretty gullible, so it was very easy to start her off. I feel like they would call her boring and dull. Also oversharing and talking over people.
Her interests from manga and video games to psychology and eurohistory these are not what other people think are cool unfortunately. Being an otaku nerd is not what most kids like. When she was young and liked like pokémon and yugioh, I feel like she couldn't afford the cards so couldn't play and no one wanted to hear her infodumping about the things she liked about them.
Being both flat and over emotional. I do headcanon her as naturally flat. But she is very prone to not being able to conceal big waves of emotions. By thw time we see her its just anger but I feel like she definitely had overly expressive joy and sadness. And she expressed these 'weirdly'. Plus being easy to anger is something that bullies love to exploit. And she is not winning a fight ever.
Not having new clothes/ having visibly repaired clothes. I definitely headcanon that kids would trip her and grab her sleeve to rip it. Because she'd definitely crash out about it. And I think she was too poor and her parents didnt care so she would have to repair it herself. When she started it was likely a bit shoddy.Likewise not having new stuff.
Not having food. In Japan I think you have to pay for school meals. I don't think her parents cared or even could pay.
Surname and parents. Her parents are most likely just factory workers. But you could definitely have her mother be a sex worker or something like that. Or just rumours that she was one since the yasuhiro = cheap. And if she lives in crummy part of the city.
Not having brushed hair + hygiene stuff. Until she could do it herself. Her parents didn't care so it wouldn't be done.
Not being athletic or sporty. I also headcanon her to be unphysical and uncoordinated. So she's taking many a ball to the face. Many on purpose.
Being small.
Shy and depressive. After she's really internalised the bullying.
Freckles. I love the taeko has freckles headcanon because its more ammunition against her.
Blood type. Sinice this is a thing in Japan. I believe type B is the most discriminated.
More teacher bullying but
Daydreaming in class. Personally ive had teachers be somewhat kind about it but other teachers went straight for my jugular. Also being called out for daydreaming makes everyone laugh at you.
Accent and more. I had a slightly thicker accent than my peers and my teachers would berate me for sounding so rough. Grades. Shes definitely an average and below average grades and was shamed by the teachers.
Being in detention from all the fights.
Fidgeting/stimming. Teachers hate it so much and Once kids realise you do it all the time. They're gonna get you.
Ambidextrous. Another headcanon but anytime she would try to use her left both teachers and kids would deem it weird.
Attraction to girls. Depending on how homophobic you want the hopes peak world to be.
Sh scars. Somehow so funny to certain kids.
Random rumours. I had so much random shit spread about me. Sucking doorhandles? Eating spiders? Having a murderer for an aunt? Gennuine rumours that were spread about me in high school. All very much not true. So bulkies spread anything.

I COMPLETELY agree about her being gullible. honestly i think she never fully grew out of that, although she’s gotten better
and her interests definitely. i think when she first started school she had kind if a hard time knowing when someone doesn’t want to listen to her infodumping (that probably also didn’t entirly go away) so she ended up going on and on which got her made fun of
absolutely the emotions thing as well. she's flat until you get her amped up and then she’s really emotional. kids do like when people react strongly to things, especially if she's trying very hard not to react, i think they'd think it was really funny to get a rise out of her
also the clothes thing makes a lot of sense, i doubt her parents had the money or cared enough to spend any they had on her, and it would fit well if that was why she learned how to sew too
and YES I also love the Taeko with freckles headcanon it definitely gives them more ammunition but also she's so cute with them
the food thing as well, i doubt her parents would have paid for it even if they had the money and i feel like the kids would try to take her food if she did have any
I especially agree about the teacher stuff, i think a lot of her teachers either just didn’t care or just wanted her to shut up and sit still. i also don’t think she was very academically talented or athletic and that combined with like audhd is just a combination that teachers can be really awful about. I've found that people tend to be more accepting or traits and behaviors they find weird if you're super academic or athletic and if you're not they can be awful to you and see you as just an annoyance
her being ambidextrous is interesting, i never considered it because where i'm from it’s considered really cool and unique to be ambidextrous or even just left handed sometimes
I think she would get a lot of rumors made up about her. especially because kids would take her getting angry as her admitting to it

Saw this making the rounds, and.....yeah, HALF correct.
Her being a Luck Merchant more than a "Master Gambler" is true. She develops knowledge of game strategy, psychological and emotional manipulation tactics, and cheating tricks to apply to cover up that more often than not she'd win without any of those things because she has freakishly good luck, and that's not as impressive as she'd like to be seen as. She also does indeed LARP as French, and needs hair extensions to not look like a Budget Mukuro.
But everything related to Hifumi is wrong.
Hifumi is the one who made the cumbersome costume to frame Hagakure with, not her. She specifically mentions she gave no such instructions for him to turn out what he did - that was all on him. Likewise, butlers by definition are trained for efficient service, so of course she would be able to manage them just fine. Hifumi is not a butler, he has no such training and is clumsy, so of course he would screw up. Nobody could manage him, not just Celeste.
And a lot of Celeste's classmates believed her lies about her persona, and backstory, and willingness to adapt. Even with her convoluted murder plot, it had Byakuya fooled for a while until Makoto accidentally tipped him off to something. She usually avoids the "normal" type of lying - Hifumi is the only one to believe that coming from her because he's the only one who would, because thanks to Killing Game trauma he was already in a bad mental space about Alter-Ego and Taka, and Celeste's lies gave him the confirmation bias he craved, reinforcing the romanticized narrative in his head that he's the hero who's meant to be with Alter-Ego and Taka's the villain trying to come between them. Again, it's more on him than it is on her.
Tl;dr - Taeko isn't that big of a loser (but she still is, in fact, kind of a loser. XD)

Idk if I really want more people to talk about reasons Taeko was bullied. Since when her internalised classism is mentioned in fanfiction it often feels victim blamey. Like the only reason she cares is because she's vain and greedy or even just silly. And everyone seems to forget shes a nerd.
ah, yeah i can see how it would come across that way. i think i may have worded it poorly by saying "what she was bullied for", when i more ment was "what exactly did they say/do to her". i also dislike that, I know exactly what you're talking about with the idea of people writing her as only caring out of vanity or greed, which tbh is kind of why I'm curious about this, because i want people's more complex thoughts, if that makes sense
i love the headcanon celes can drive and has a car. i really love the idea of her dropping these random true facts about herself like people are talking about their first journey to hopes peak with their belongings and shes just like well i drove here. and every1 is just like what??

I think she drives a fancy-ish car she won in a bet, not like crazy fancy, but nice-ish. I think at the time she'd just left her parents house and didn’t know how to drive at all but kind of just went for it and somehow made it back ok. and then she just kind if figured it out from there. taught herself kind of. but I do not think she's a very good driver. she speeds, drives over curbs, is reckless, ect. and it’s a miracle she's never gotten into any crazy trouble
and i think because of that, her car is covered in dents and scrapes but she plays it off as being intentional so she’s not targeted in whatever sketchy areas she goes to to gamble.
I need to figure out exactly what kind of car, but i picture it as being one of those semi fancy smaller cars, probably red or black, and i think she has some of those fuzzy dice on the mirror because someone got them for her (feel like it would maybe be makoto?) and she’s become attached

oh no actually the Yasuhiro in Hagakure's name is written differently! it’s 康比呂, whereas for Taeko it's written 安広. So Hiroko did not name her son cheap lol. I think her last name was an ironic meta thing by Kodaka but honestly it does work, kids with names that sound diffent or have odd spellings do sometimes get bullied for it.
that would kind of add a whole new layer to her saying it’s a losers name if she was bullied about it. weirdly enough, despite the fact that i've seen many people who think she was bullied, i never see any ideas or headcanons as to what she was bullied about. maybe that’s to dark. and it was probably multiple diffent things as well

Do you have any headcanons on how Taeko's name was chosen? Do you think it was random they just picked i t out of a baby name book randomly? Or she was a blesing. My headcanon usually is that it was the name of the midwife but not in a sweet way in a just name her anythng way. Mainnly because Taeko is apparrently old fashioned so I feel likw it makes sense for her to be named after someone. Although it's probably also meant to be hinting to her family being conservative.

her last name is written like this, (安広), where this character (安) can mean cheap, I think although that’s not related to her first name but it is interesting if true
about the name Taeko, i have seen a few people say it’s kind of a generic name? like Jane Doe in America, but I've mostly heard that in relation to the female senpai in yandere simulator, which... doesnt seem the most trustworthy source? although if that is the case, it would make sense given her parents not really caring about her and therefor picking something generic
honestly i think they just kind of picked the first thing they thought of. i highly doubt her parents planed at all to have her and my headcanon is that they didn’t really want a child, so i don’t think they put much thought into it at all, it was just the first thing they thought of, which does make the blessing meaning kind of ironic
honestly thinking about it is a little sad, like understandable you'd want to change your name if that’s how you got it but also her persona very much Isn’t just a name change. she still sees herself as Taeko, so i think her being made to feel better as Taeko feels more appropriate than her just changing it

honestly i've always felt like cheri is kind of begrudgingly accepting of Kyoko. I think mostly he's mad that Celeste is paying attention to her and not him, but also I think he's kind of a menace to most everyone else so that’s pretty good honestly

Of the many things that are all too commonly misconstrued about Celestia Ludenberg, I feel we don't talk enough about her "dream". People usually miss the whole point of that, mainly because they're taking her words (words from the Queen of Liars) at face value and Kodaka made the dumbass choice of including silly music in the scene where she's talking about it (like much in that chapter, the anime did it better because it had sad music...since it's sad.)
Celeste's words to describe it are living in a fancy European castle like a princess where she is served by handsome men dressed as vampires and spends every day "worshipping the aesthetic decadence" around her, so taken at value she just comes off as a shallow bitch who just wants to live for material and sexual pleasure, and would even kill for it. However...
1.) If you've done her FTEs, it is made incredibly obvious that Celestia Ludenberg is a false persona Taeko Yasuhiro crafted for herself based on manga. And manga/anime protagonists will usually have these big, outlandish and often self-centered dreams as motivations. Become a Pokémon Master, become King of the Pirates, become Hokage, become the World's Greatest Hero, become God of a New World, earn enough money to get something important, overturn the established order to create something better, get revenge on someone who wronged you, discover paradise or the secrets of the universe...you get the idea. Celeste's "dream" is her character motivation. It's not what Taeko actually wants: what she actually wants is just to live her life as Celeste and that's merely a justification for it. The selfish, greedy, materialistic aspects are all aspects of Celeste's character that Taeko made, and she is speaking as that character in the moment where she describes it, not as herself.
2.) When you take Taeko into consideration and imagine how it would be if she ever achieved the "dream", it's both incredibly sad yet also incredibly relatable. It's almost a form of suicide: Taeko gets buried for good and all of the wretched self-esteem that comes with her, and she can spend the rest of her life just imagining herself as Celeste and not truly living anymore. But while this is something unhealthy in how far it's taken, the impetus behind it is all too understandable, especially to autistic people like me: Taeko fears the "real world" because the "real world" has hurt her for just being herself. People were neglectful at best and hostile at worst toward her. It's made her want to escape the "real world" and live somewhere cozy where she feels safe and comfortable and valued. Again, GOD do I feel that, being autistic.
3.) The scene where Celeste describes her "dream", despite having a full CG illustration for it, isn't voice-acted. What is are her last words where she basically admits that she wouldn't have killed anyone if she had hope in Alter-Ego getting them all out of the school alive, meaning she would have foregone the money motive which exposes her "dream" as less important than she made it out to be. This is further reinforced when we find out that Taeko had actually given up on the "dream" to accept living in Hope's Peak Academy forever with her classmates during the Tragedy, and later Bonus Modes flesh out that the likely reason she could do this is because she came to like and trust her classmates, because they accommodated her on how she wanted to live her life and be perceived, and even supported her pursuing her "dream". She feels safe and comfortable around them; valued by them. It's why it's so damn despicable that Junko took that away from her, wiping her memories and making her view them with suspicion, distrust, and fear for her life and preferred existence.
